Visited here 2 years ago with my father-in-law. I have been coming to this area for 7 years and it was a my first vist. I use to teach an Native American Unit at our school so I always look for new info about Indians. It was great to see how the Indians lived in this area. The canoes, weapons, trappers, trading, along the hand made fishing lures and how they fishing in the area and still do. You can spend 1 hour or longer looking at the clothing and way of life. It was closed this year during our annual fishing trip to French Lakes Resort.

Nice set up, interesting displays. If you are in that area then you REALLY need to go to Waswagoning on Cty Rd H. Take the guided walk around the grounds and see and learn about the Native American Indians.

There is something for every member of the family here - from kids to crafters (both men & women). I learned a lot on traditional life thru the seasons - the ice fishing part was very interesting. Be sure to call ahead for hours and dates open, now that we are heading in to the Winter Season. The museum will be open some days during the Christmas/New Year holiday and it will be a great place for a inter-generational outing.

Enjoyed visiting the Geoge W. Brown Jr. Ojibwe Museum and Cultural Center (on the Lac du Flambeau Reservation) on a rainy day. The museum exhibits are nicely done and help to demonstrate the local Tribal history and customs, both ancient and more modern (up to the nearly the present). There were nice hand-on activities for the kids - a crayon rubbing/drawing area, using a type of fishing pole to get the feel of a traditional fishing method, and (most of all) sitting in the kid-friendly recreated canoe and playing in the 'medicine man' lodge. (That entertained them for a long time). My husband and I enjoyed the descriptions, information, artifacts and pictures. We were very curious about what kinds of sacred items were kept in a locked Tribe-member-only area, but still thought it was neat that such an area is there for Tribe members. Glad we visited. Spent 45 min. to an hour there.
