This casino was not worth the hour drive. Machines don't pay out and on the penny machines have larger minimums. The restaurant was closed. The bathrooms were dirty. We were there at 9:30 am and it was very smokey. Nothing here was appealing to make us come back again.
We have eaten at the casino a number of times but not recently since we are moving away from Nekoosa. We have always found the food very good and the personnel very friendly.
Will not be going here anymore with the recent price increase in dining. What were they thinking? Its in the middle of nowhere and really needed the affordable dining to lure people in. I will chose to spend my money elsewhere. $9 for a onion blossom.....lol
My husband and I eat at The Grille usually 3 times a month. Not anymore. They cut the menu selections down to almost nothing and in most cases raised the prices 50%. We loved the great food at decent prices and realize that the cost of everything these days is rising. But, the sticker shock is enough for us to say, "Bye-bye." A great burger and fries was $6.95-$7.95. Rueben sandwich was $7.95. Now up to $12 and no longer served at dinner. Crazy. I'm going to miss this place.
This place used to have decent payouts and was a nice play to hang out for the afternoon, but as of the past 6 months, there is a definite decline in not only the establishment (i.e., smokiness, cleanliness) but its payouts as well. There is no way a machine should have over 300 spins before a bonus round is obtained. If you get into a bonus, then the machines take back approximately twice the previous win. I am not the only one who feels this way. There was a few people who were making the same comments that the people in my party were thinking. It is like the bank of machines totally shuts down. We notice this is becoming a trend a most of the Ho-Chunk casinos. If this trend continues, we will definitely cease going and go to other casinos not associated with Ho-Chunks.
Ho Chunk Nekoosa is one of the 6 Ho Chunk casinos in Wisconsin. Be aware that the directional sign on the road still says "Rainbow Casino". I stopped there just briefly as I was traveling in the area to check it out...I was pleasantly surprised! It is a small casino but it looks newer. It looks fairly new and it is clean. I liked that it had modern, updated, newer slot games to try out. Typical for me - I leave a loser but still had fun. This one is not the worst of the Ho Chunk for smokiness... average on the asphyxiation scale for we nonsmokers...The bar and restaurant looked very nice - though I did not partake to rate the food.
Friendly gaming tables and good slots. This casino has an excellent restaurant and bar. The staff is great! We go once a week even though it is an hour drive. Their sandwiches are a good choice, especially the Reuban or the Chicken BLT. Steaks have been pretty good also. We even win at this casino occasionally.
I only visited this casino back in the 90's. It was very nice then.
It's funny how we are the ones being scalped and we do it voluntarily. Really not a bad casino, busy. Just wasn't lucky that day.
Top notch establishment! Nice decor, very, very clean, and super friendly staff. Great variety of slot machines from 1 cent to $5.00. I'm a quarter gal myself. It was rather crowed when we arrived due to some senior bus groups visiting. But soon after, the group was called to board the bus heading home, and quite a few machines became available. I did learn that at this casino anyway, it is acceptable to hold a machine by tiliting the stool over it, when you: 1) need to go get more money to feed the one armed bandit, or 2) for a. bathroom break. What I don't know is, the acceptable amount of time to wait for that person to come back to the machine. I was tempted to over-throw an end slot, but thought I'd give the person 5 minutes. Luckly I did because a few seconds later, she showed up. I sat at the slot next to her, and having spent less then $5, and playing about 25 minutes - I won $175.00. YES - LIFE IS GOOD!!
The only thing I dislike is the long drive from town. There isn't much to look at until you get to the casino. The ride home is always loud because we have so much to talk about from the casino. I have heard that they cleaned the place up from a couple years ago. I intend on going soon. I have family that goes regularly and are satisfied.
Excellent food! Good selection of machines, but tends to be pretty tights and few comps given. Wish HoChunk was as generous as Red Wing and Hinkley. Also pretty smokey.
The Casino grounds are kept clean. Of course inside the casino they keep it clean but there is smoking. They took out the only area that they had for non-smokers. They also remodeled and got rid of the sunken floor area. Everything is on one floor now. This is a small casino but a good place to pass some time during the long winter months.
We go there for the good food and stay to play the slots but don't win nearly enough.
I recently went to the raibow casino in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. I lost more money there in one hour than at any other casino I have recently visited in Wisconsin. The machines had no play to them, if I had some play it would have made losing a bit easier, but there was NONE. I also visited the bar, the bartender on duty was named Jeff, the mixers were made to strong (Ilike a strong drink, but this ?) 2 shots booze, well over the 1 shot an average drink has. He (Jeff) did not have the friendly disposition you would expect, he made negative comments about another customer when they only left a .50 cent tip on a bottle of beer. The highlight was the meal it was a good portion (for the price) and I had plenty to take home for another meal, but it did not have much taste. The serverse were very very polite, made sure the drinks were kept filled and checked back often to see how everything was. The reason for the bad grade/rate is mainly for no play and the bartender (Jeff).
