I really like Cedar Grover Cheese in Plain, WI. I think that watching cheese made is extremely interesting. It's not a fast-paced thing to watch. But for kids who are somewhat mature...maybe 10 years old and older, who have some fascination with how things work, this is a fantastic venue.

We spent the day visiting a couple of cheese factories in the Greater Madison area and Cedar Grove was our favorite by far. The factory has some knowledgeable and helpful employees who brought us through the intricate details of cheese making and were patient enough to answer all our questions. Regular tours available - call ahead for schedule. We loved the cheese curds here and walked away with a couple of bags. We also wandered around the grounds of the cheese factory which were picturesque and even walked into the water treatment facility used in the cheese making process.Tip: Bring a cooler bag to store your purchases.

Great place for home schooling experience and for those who love artisan cheeses ! Of course, there is no fee for entering into the factory to purchase the artisan cheeses.
