Nice atmosphere with friendly and knowledgable staff. You can sample their wine before purchasing. They have won several awards.
This is a hard review for me to write, as the winery mainly does sweet wines, while we prefer dry wines. So the majority of their wines are ones we would not drink, but just because we don't care for them, doesn't mean they are bad, as the various awards will attest to, and I can't write a bad review, just because the type of wine is different from what we normally like. What I know, the owner was very friendly and talkative and made the wine tasting fun. You were able to pick 7 wines from the list for a free tasting. They do offer three dry wines, so course we tried those, one was a Chardonnay, a Merlot and another red. They do also have some semi-dry and semi-sweet and then just the pure sweet. So there is a broad range of flavors to suite various tastes, so it is worth the stop, even if you are more with us in liking drier varieties. For instance I enjoyed their hard cider and even though it was sweet, the strawberry sparkling wine was good for something different. Not what I normally think of for a wine, but why not? The name gives you the indication of the type of place this winery is, they are in the country and like to have fun with what they are doing, hence the name and also some of the playful names of the wine. Just because you are in the wine business doesn't mean you have to be all prim and proper about it. They love what they do and that shows, and that's what makes it worth the stop.
If you like the taste of Kool-Aid, then you will like the taste of Buddy Boy Winery wines. The name alone is less than appealing, as though they were soliciting the 'red neck' winos. I have heard their Saturday night dinners are fairly decent, but I don't think I could palate the wine with my dinner.
I've been to this winery twice on wine trails for Hershey/Harrisburg. The wine is very good but both times I've been in the tasting room, the smell has not been very pleasant. It smells like the fermentation of the grapes but it is extremely strong in odor and is off-putting. Now, this aspect won't keep me away because the wine is good! But I'm wondering why that smell is so strong here and virtually undetectable in all other wineries...
You won't be disappointed if you attend their "Farm to Table" dinner and a band night! Lots of homegrown food, wonderful wine, a great band, and dancing!! It makes a great date night or a "girls night out"!! As stated in other reviews, there usually is some table dancing by the end of the evening! The tables are nice and sturdy, so no worries. The deck and fire pit area are beautiful and surrounded by nice landscaping and trees. Be prepared though....there is only a "porta-potty", but it is well-maintained if you know what I mean!! The owners are friendly and make you feel right at home.
Great wine and even better band nights. Sit by the fire and get warm or hit the dance floor. By closing time They'll be swinging from the rafters and dancing on the tables.
Recently attended an outdoor wedding here. The property is wooded and quiet. There is a large covered deck area as well as lawn space and patio with a fire pit. A fish pond and old barn are on the property near the vineyard. Our bride supplied beautiful chair covers with bows and a drape of white fabric for the ceremony on the lawn. The tables were covered in white tablecloths with long burlap runners. She added beautiful flower arrangements with votives on the tables and strands of white lights overhead. This place can transform into a picture from Country Living magazine with lots of planning and some work. The wine selection is quite large and very good. Would highly recommend Mountainside Supper Club as a caterer. Their staff was friendly, attentive and professional. The food was AMAZING! I hear the winery and caterer offer farm to fork dinners here on Saturday nights! I believe the cost is $20.00 per person. If I lived close by, I'd be there every Saturday! Limited parking close to the winery, but there is a field Just down the road. There are only port a pots on the property, but a hand washing sink available.
