We enjoyed wine tasting here and bought several bottles of wine, staff was friendly and very inattentive, however i when to pay with my discover card and had problems with their machine. my the staff own admission this machine messes up all the time and sometimes double charges cards. this didn't happen to us but traveler beware carry cash here to pay without problems, FYI nearness ATM machine is in the next town over about 5 miles away.
Quaint winery with a nice gift shop and patio during warmer weather to sit & enjoy. Nice selection of wines & everyone is always friendly. Discount if you purchase in quantity, and they have monthly specials also.
What a great place to kill time while waiting on a table at the Allegheny Grille ... now I'll visit Foxburg Wine Cellars even if I'm not killing time. :) The staff was friendly and informative on the wines. As all tastings go ... I didn't like all of them, but the ones I did I purchased (mainly for gifts). It's a lovely gift shop for the wine lovers in your life ... I even did a little Christmas shopping in October. CHEERS!
We visited this winery as part of the Foxburg Fall Festival. Inside we were surprised to find a few of our neighbors from Pittsburgh. Through conversation they all gave the wine and winery a thumbs up and recommended the winery. Wine tasting was great. Since it was part of the festival it was extremely crowded with many bottles of wine purchased.
This was a day out with my girl friends. It is a beautiful setting for a winery. There is the Foxburg Inn and it also has a restaurant. There are other places to see and to enjoy some food. The wine is excellent.
My husband, some friends and I were to go to a rehearsal dinner across the street and got there early so we could try the wine. I had a great time. They had a nice expansive selection of wines, didn't limit the number of samples we could have, and the tasting was free (though there was a tip jar we used for the woman giving the samples). The list had a variety of dry and sweet wines and something like 31 wines total. The concord was one of our favorites (its sweet but I don't mind sweet wines). The room itself was cute and they had some other things for sale. I liked that they had a beautiful outdoor area to sit and live music was playing. If you like going to wineries, this is one worth checking out sometime.
excellent wine selection. Loved the charning little area where it is located and the restaurant across the parking lot
Seems that saturday afternoon is best time to visit . The store has a outdoor veranda with tables and provides free Saturday afternoon live music ( sounded good too). Store itself is worth a look even if not a wine drinker..Many items for purchase, some quite original and unusual. The Wine Cellars also offers free wine tasting on Saturday..not sure about other days. Definitely worth a visit when in or near Foxburg,Pa
I am not a big wine drinker, & can never remember the names of ones I have tried and liked when shopping for it, so this was perfect for me. I got to sample the wines & buy the ones I liked. Apparently I liked a lot of their wines, because I ended up with 7 bottles to take home with me!
I've been purchase wine from the Foxburg Wine Cellars for years. I've sampled them all. Prefer the sweet wines with blueberry blush being my favorite followed closely by cran-grape which I believe is seasonal. It's a tiny shop with lots of wine accessories and clothing items. I've not ever stay for long, usually just long enough to grab my favorites and go, but with the restaurant, hotel, chocolate shop and various tours available nearby I can see where it could be a destination place for someone who didn't live less than 30 mins away. I don' think you'd be disappointed. Fall may be the best time to visit.
I wasn't particularly fond of the wines, but that is just a matter of taste. I still took a bottle ot two home. It was a nice stop along the way to enjoy some refreshment in the outdoors.
Would it hurt for the employees at this winery to smile. Or act like they were glad people stopped in. The winery was okay but they need to get some employees with a little personality!!
Quaint little shop. Great wine. Beautiful setting. Very unfriendly employee. She barely spoke to us and offered no information when we asked questions.
Finished up the Groundhog Wine Trail with this winery on our way back west. What a nice surprise! We had no idea that this winery was situated where it was and that it was surrounded by quaint shops & such. Staff was friendly and helpful. Wine was very good and no charge for tastings. Nice dry wines. I don't know about the sweet or semi-sweet ones as I don't try those. We found it a shame that we didn't have more time to enjoy the outdoor seating area. I highly recommend dropping by for a taste or two. Open 7 days a week.
We went to the restaraunt across the street, wonderful meal. Afterward we went to wine cellar across the street. We looked around and were glared at by an employee who gave us the cold shoulder, as if she did not want us there at all. We would ask a few questions and we tried to spark a conversation......nothing. My sister and mother bought a bottle each, I don't know why.? My sister and I were going to buy a bottle and decided not to....SOOoooo UNFRIENDLY>>>>>>> No warm welcome from this place. I am quite sure that it was not the owner, because we, I'm sure ,would have been treated better. This was an unhappy employee, it bothered me for days.
