The snow and ice were thick and all trails closed. However the Overlook was open and that brought the rating up. Go see this in spring or summer.

The hike sure is terrific! I imagine the views at fall will be spectacular. Unfortunately we were there during summer, but the hike is still the same!

it was super cold but worth the wow factor. a must see. I want to come back when I can enjoy the trails and water

World-class view from the overlook over the canyon. Lovely at sunrise and sunset. Very steep hiking trail to the bottom at Pine Creek has waterfalls and old forest. A great "rail to trail" flat hike alongside the creek is a pleasure. Limited access to the canyon makes for a strenuous hike but limits crowds. The creek is very nice and wide, suitable for mild whitewater in spring and lazy tubing in summer. Ample parking at the visitor center at the canyon top, but most of the other access is by a long walk and steep hike. Wear hiking shoes.

Beautiful fall foliage. We were lucky to hit peak time. Be sure and check out the films in the visitor center.

We only had time in our trip to go to the main viewing centers, where you can get some beautiful vistas of the “Grand Canyon of the East” from the east rim. There were several viewing platforms, all within a very short distance of each other. The views were wonderful! I do not like heights, or being on an edge; these views were high up, but they were behind high enough fences, that there was no issue. If you're in this part of Pennsylvania, and the park is open, this is a “must see.” There was a vendor there, by the main viewing areas, in a truck-- Miller's Purely Maple; we bought some of their maple syrup, and have not been able to try it yet. But they make real milkshakes; the chocolate was good! My husband tried the maple milkshake, and that was really yummy!

What a nice little park! We didn't have a lot of time & only had a short visit, but the deck & pathways were so convenient, we were still able to really enjoy the canyon. We had packed a picnic lunch & were delighted to see such a great facility for picnics. Clean bathrooms & gift shop were an added surprise. We will definitely be back, hopefully for a weekend trip next time. So much to explore!

Great view of the Grand Canyon. The Turkey trail was amazing and beautiful. Would be nice to have posted direction from this park to Colton Park.

We visited Leonard Harrison State Park first and then went to the other side of the canyon and looked at the view from the Colton Point State Park. The view is amazing! We were there on November 2 so all of the leaves were gone but it was still an amazing view! If you go this time of year - dress warm - there was a very strong wind - but it doesn't detract from the beautiful scenery. We did not hike the paths (were not dressed properly) but the area is beautiful! Definitely worth the trip!

Visited the Pa. Grand Canyon today in high 30 degree temps and high winds. The color is gone from the leaves but such an awesome view!!! Breath taking!!! There are bathrooms ( flush with running water), in season a visitors center. There are pavilions for picnicking, trails for hiking and cement trails to the look outs. There are some shallow steps which might be a bit hard for wheel chairs. Definitely worth seeing! Will be returning in warm weather to experience it then. The hiking trail to the canyon bottom is fairly steep and narrow in places and adequate hiking shoes are recommended.

Excellent views, beautiful in the fall. A good hiking day. Use a current GPS to get there and take the advice of local folks, otherwise you might end up on the unpaved roads.

Use the GPS addresses for COLTON state park for the one vista view and then the GPS address for LEONARD HARRISON state park for the main larger vista view. we had no problems finding it. we went to colton first which is a small overlook and not really marked, then drove over to leonard. Overall our experience was good. The view was beautiful, wasn't too crowed in the morning which was great. The little gift shop was okay but the only option for a hot drink was maple flavored coffee, not for us. The grounds are clean and the rangers were there to answer questions. The Turkey trail should not be taken lightly. we were told the first waterfall was about 3/4 mile down so we decided to hike it for photo ops. It was clear at the bottom of the gorge. Needless to say the hike is very steep and hazardous. Be very careful and plan for the amount of time. It zig zags down the mountain back and forth and then you go down some steep stairs that some are missing railings or boards and there are even some rebar sticking out of the ground. We didn't go any further than the first large waterfall on the floor. We enjoyed ourselves and the fall leaves.
