There are so many great things about Soergels that it would be difficult to list them all. The bakery is great for pies and such. There are specially items galore and obviously, great produce. There is a small wine shop and deli. There is a wonderful garden center. But the place I spend the most time at is Naturally Soergels. My daughter has celiac, and that place has been incredible from the day she was diagnosed. WAYYYYY better than the grocery chains, even the national ones that most people think of first for gluten free foods. So if you need gluten free, this is the place to go. I'm lucky that it's five minutes from my house, but I would drive across town for it.
Great orchard complex; much very good produce to buy; many plants in greenhouse. Great place for family visits on weekends.
Interesting arrangement of buildings to explore with a nursery type green house and shop with area to sell Christmas trees and wreaths, another building with grocery/produce as well as wine shop, Christmas shop, bakery, lunch counter and ice cream shop. A different 2-3 story building sets off to the right with candles and attractive gifts. As we headed back into the complex, there appeared to be sheds for a petting zoo, then an extensive gluten-free store. There was an outdoor pavilion for summertime activities and parties. Since this was winter, there was no activity going on, but looked like it gets hopping with people and children in the summer. Highly recommend visiting and trying their barbecue for lunch. Bakery is super tempting and sure to please. And don't forget a sample of wine before you leave!
I love this place! Family friendly and lots to do. It can get expensive during their fall festival but it's worth it! So many things to do and great food (their apple cider is amazing!).
We've been to this farm/store in 3 out of 4 seasons - walking the pumpkin patch, visiting the animals, checking out the food, crafts, & gifts in the store. Great experience at all times!
Wanted to check out the products here. There are several gourmet items. I bought one to try. The produce was nice and fresh. I found several items much less expensive than my grocery store! There are several areas to explore here so it's a fun place to be!
When I say great family place, it can be taken two ways.It is a great place to take your family. there is good, farm grown local food, entertainment for kids and lots of things to see. But it is also run and owned by a great family, the Soergels are generous, down to earth good people who have been farming the western PA land since the 1840's. I strongly recommend getting your produce and baked goods at Soergels. And if you have family members with digestive problems they have a special store for gluten free and other specialty needs run by Amy Soergel.
I really like this place. It has been off I-79 for years and is family owned. There are multiple areas to this family farm/market. One area is a garden center/green house with beautiful healthy looking plants for gardens, porches, pots. There is also a gift and Amish furniture shop which has unique outdoor and gift items. There is a market area where they have fresh fruits (some you can even pick) and vegetables (especially harder to find ones) as well as bakery items like pies and cookies and breads. (There is a "harvest schedule" which tells you when they will have asparagus, okra, apricots, or egg plant and the other vegies.). They have a wine area. There were also cute pretzel items for kids (for them to pick out or perfect for grandparents to pick up). There is also an area with organic, gluten free and allergen free foods for anyone on or requiring special diets. Sorgels is open 7 days a week (don't know about their holiday schedule) and they also serve food, including lunch specials like barbeque, chicken and fish. They do post their lunch specials on their website. One thing that wasn't obvious, that I didn't know before is that they do gift baskets which are perfect for a gift or even to send in sympathy. They continually do different events for fall, Halloween, and Christmas and throughout the year with different activities for the kids, so this is a great place for families. They also have a half day summer camp for kids that expose them to life on the farm.Last, but not least, the star of the show is apples. They started as an apple farm, so fall is one of the best times to be there. Their location is very convenient, located in Wexford off of I-79 (you can see it from the interstate) and is within 10 minutes of the Cranberry I-79 interchange. Some items are pricey, but this is a destination. Whatever they are, they are always fresh.
This place is great!! Special events many weekends, great grocery store with fresh produce - especially apples and corn! Lots of things to climb on for kids and little houses to go into. Gluten free and organic store too as well as a great two story gift store and a big greenhouse and yard full of trees, plants, and flowers to purchase! Ice Cream, fresh veggies, flowers, fun for the kids and lunch or supper to buy - what more could you want?!? View them squeezing apples for cider in the fall with a free sample! GREAT place!
Love the country market style and the things they have for my grandchildren..............................................................
Great special events! Super pies, ok produce although not all local as advertised. (We don't grow oranges locally)
Spend some time here amidst the flowers and garden gems, find fresh farm produce, dairy milk in glass, gluten free products, home made baked goods, and lovely gifts. ... there is something for everyone in the family! Perhaps even a farm animal or two. They have several festivals throughout the year, too! Nice... And very conveniently located right off of I-79. :)
I would has scored higher but I found the place confusingly laid out and little to zero directional signs or instructions. Anyways, there's a cute little town of various play houses and structures. That was lots of fun for little ones. There's an area w water coming down to do the whole sifting for gens thing...but it's not clear where you actually go to buy the bag to do it...or particularly clear that's how it works. My friend went and bought them and it took her a long time to figure out where. There was blueberry picking the day we went. It's like day to day announcements on their FB page...a clearer picking schedule would make it easier to plan. There's an easy to miss sign pointing to where to "check in" to get your basket to pick blueberries. But if you already missed that sign there is nothing telling you to go back there before you walk up the hill to get to the blueberries...or even a sign once you are up there. There are some animals in pens that you can pet/feed. Quarter operated food machines for the animals are there. They had the biggest pig I've ever seen there. We went into the Naturally Soergel's store. They have some interesting products...they did stock items I buy but much more expensive. But it was a good place to pick up a healthy snack if you eat gluten free, organic, etc. Overall it was fun...but the lack of signage was frustrating.
Soergels is a family owned business and has been serving this area for decades. A bakery, fresh vegetables, lunch, ice cream, strawberry picking, small animals for the children to see, and wonderful events all summer long. It is a must see for anyone visiting the area. Soergels is also a beautiful nursery filled with flowers and plants. It is extremely popular during the summer months with corn roasts, BBQ's and more.
For the number of things in Wexford that are overpriced and pretentious, Soergel's is anything but! This is my go-to farmers market and I return each week to get our veggies for the week. We enjoy many salads per week and the veggies I get at Soergel's each week are always fresh, crisp, and infinitely more tasty than the ones you'll buy at the super market. And the best part - they're cheaper! I typically load my basket with more veggies than it should be able to fit and I always walk out having spent right around $20. I also occasionally stop in for lunch as their soups and lunch specials are also very good. Just an all around great place and even more fun in the summer. So happy this place is nearby.
