Great inexpensive way to spend the afternoon or evening with the family. Go early and take a stroll around the island.
We went to see The Senators for Scout Night. We even got to sleep on the field and watch a movie on the Jumbotron. We've participated in this event the past 3 years and every year we have a blast!! Make sure and pack your gear on something with wheels, a wagon, cart, etc.. It's a long walk to haul your gear. Also less is best... You don't need airbeds, etc, because there are no rocks, etc.. the field is as smooth as butter!
For baseball fans this is a great place to watch a game. The small park really lets you get close to the action. Good food and adult drinks are available in a wide variety. You may be treated to current or future stars of the game in this park too as many big names of the Washington Nationals pass through here on their way to or back to the Majors.
The last two years we have taken our employees and their families out for a baseball game. It was a simple process. Both times we had a group of well over 100 people. We were given a separate area to hang out to watch the game and have dinner. The cost of the event was reasonable considering that you get a game ticket and dinner with non-alcoholic drinks. Food was average. They have a drawing for small gifts for the group and your group is mentioned by the public announcer. You need to pay to park. The stadium is new and clean and AA baseball is quality baseball. My only complaint is that they lock the refreshment cooler exactly at a certain time despite the group still attending the game. I understand taking the food away, but leave the cooler open all game. Nothing worse than being thirsty on a summer day....going to the cooler and the door will not open because they locked it.
This little ball park is great for family outings and celebrations. The seats are good, the beer selection and food is as well. The between inning entertainment engages children. The sound of the bat "crack" resonates like a big ball park. It's the perfect place for a family night out.
I enjoyed a Senator's home game in this park. Easy access and good parking. It is a clean facility and I was fortunate to be in a sponsored box for the evening. Clean restrooms, good food and drink with lots of friendly people. I live in the western US in a city that hosts 14 MLB teams for Spring Training and I think that this ball park is comparable to any of those.
There just is not a bad seat in this stadium! The midway area has activities, the tickets and the food are very reasonably priced. Why get hosed at a major league game when you can cheer for this farm team for the Washington Nationals from right behind home plate? No kidding, we have walked up a couple hours before a game and gotten these seats! And the price is right! There is also lawn seating if you are up to that sort of thing, there are always pre-game things on the field for kids, freebies for the first ?? people there, etc. A rousing way to spend a nice day on City Island. Be sure to take a ride on the little train that speeds around the island at about 3 mph!! Kids love it! Batting cages, mini-golf, and the launching dock fo Pride Of The Susquehanna, which is a 45 minute narrated "cruise" (and I use the term very loosely) on the river. Again, kids love this. For what you would pay to see one major league game (not to mention the traffic, parking fees and outrageous food prices) you can do everything on City Island and still have $$ in your pocket. It's country-ana at it's best! Have a ball! (have a ball, get it???) :))
This is a great location for a ball park. It is conveniently located on City Island. Parking is easily accessible. The park is well kept and clean. Tickets to the games are very affordable. It is a fun, easy, and affordable visit for friends or family.
I was pleasantly surprised at this location for a ballpark. Even though the Senators were crushed, the stadium was well designed, good layout, and not a bad seat in the house. It is even helpful that the seats were above the playing field, to give better views. Can't beat the $15 seats right behind the dugout!
No bad seats in the house and plenty of options as far as food and drink make this a great time for friends and/or family at a fraction of what the majors cost. Scenic Island location adds to the atmosphere!
If your only going to go once this year purchase the buffet included seats. Directly behind the plate and you feel like your on the field. Buffet was nice with more then just hamburgers and dogs. Soda and water included. For the price and atmosphere it's hard to beat.
Nice ballpark. Best hot dog ever according to my son. Fun to see a Washington Nationals minor league team. Great prices too.
Metro Bank Park, home to the Harrisburg Senators is a great and enjoyable experience. The one major down fall are the mayflies.
The Spot is actually the hot dog heaven just inside the gates to the rightat Metro Park.Baseball for me is the Blue Jays but a group of friends asked me tofill in for 82 year old Dick who could not make the 25th annual ball park tour of America which included Harrisburg and Buffalo.Harrisburg to see the visiting Jay Double A team the NH Fish Cats and Buffalofor the Triple A 100 year old Jay farm team The Bisons. The hot dog at Metro Park was the best treat out of 5 ball games and two stadiums. The fun and excitement filled Metro Stadium was augmented between innings withthe monkey race, the kiss camera, animal faces, balloon race, t-shirt gun, tennis ball toss and on and on ... overridden by the guest appearance of the Monkey Rodeowhich was not necessary as entertaining on the field as in the space of your mind ...monkeys on border collies????And we finished on the next two nights with a glorious review of fireworks.Everyone in Harrisburg we asked about what their suggested activities startedwith the civil war museum but got to a Senators ball game by the third or fourth suggestion.I would recommend a family visit for a night of great fun,I apologize for the poor monkey shot but I was so astounded by the spectaclethat I was late on the camera shots ... just proof that it was real.
I am not necessarily a big baseball fan but have season tickets and just enjoy a night at the park. The facility is top notch with a lot of things going on to entertain you between innings. Plenty of rest rooms and always clean, if you walk around and up and down you will find a fairly good selection of food. Like any other sports venue the food and beer prices are high but Thirsty Thursday's have $2 Coors Light drafts. Every Friday night for years when their is a game there are fireworks in center field and good ones at that. Overall it's a great place to take the family for a night of fun.
