We are so sorry our 20th century American History exhibit "irritated you". We are an American history museum and JFK is part of our country's amazing history. Almost everyone is blown away by our 20th century exhibit. In fact it is the most popular part of our museum! We at The Gettysburg Museum Of History are not just stuck in the 19th century we cover all areas of our nation's history! Please stop by and see the highest quality artifacts outside the Smithsonian!

Best museum in Gettysburg! So much to see. Including some of George Washington's hair! Friendly staff. A must visit.

We all seen the owner on pawn stars and American pickers. You could tell his passion from watching the shows. He's also had several items from his collection on various shows on other networks. Coming to Gettysburg for the weekend, I absolutly had to stop by. My wife and I joked around that we hoped to see the owner. We where shocked to see that he runs the building and walks around talking passionately about his relics. As a marine, I enjoyed the WWll section. Eric has a wonderful section from the battle of Gettysburg but I appreciate how he has the other sections from Bonnie and Clyde to JFK. My wife also really enjoyed the Maryland Monroe section. Hands down my favorite item was the Japanese flag recovered from a marine that killed a insurgent with it folded in his pocket. What an amazing war prize. This place is like no other. Other museums wouldn't have the testicles to display such controversial items. Several items are also for sale. I've read reviews from snobby, stuck up individuals who commented on Eric not being a wine and cheese snob that uses large words to describe his prized collection. Awesome, amazing, rad, cool, outrageous are all words that describe this museum. If you have a silver spoon in your rear, you should probably go somewhere with vaulted ceilings and relics in bullet proof glass behind a velvet red rope. Here, you'll get a honest and realistic history of every item and come within inches of most. I purched a item from him from WWll and he was kind enough to take a picture with us. If you come to Gettysburg this is a absolute must. Stopping here made my weekend. I can't wait to come back again!

To those thinking about visiting The Gettysburg Museum of History, you will certainly 'not' be disappointed to view the great variety of historical relics and artifacts on display hands-down! We were amazed to see all that this museum had to offer that ranges from the American Civil War up to today's current events, such as September 11th and hear of this museum's experiences on the hit TV shows 'American Pickers' and 'Pawn Stars.' The proprietor, Mr. Erik L. Dorr, is to be complemented and congratulated on his vast knowledge of historical significance. As a side note, Mr. Dorr permitted us to even bring in our recent personal artifact discover upon which he examined it in great detail to provide an accurate appraisal free of charge. We will 'certainly' be back to take in the great love of history that we share and to make further purchases. If you find yourself in the Gettysburg, PA. area, you owe it to yourself to stop in at this museum - it will be worth your time indeed! Well-done on a wonderful museum!Highest regards!Aaron D.

Probably the best collection of memorabilia and historical items we've ever seen in a private collection. Can't wait to go back and spend more time there. It's a fascinating history lesson. Kudos to this guy for pursuing making history come alive.

We love the Museum. If you want to know what it was like, this is the place that has it all! The Cyclorama is beyond awesome and the shopping in the store is varied to meet all prices and interests.

I remember as a kid in the 1960s visiting Gettysburg and going into lots of privately owned museums whose owners were capitalizing on the Civil War Centennial. Most featured battlefield relics, weapons, uniforms, etc. None of those museums exist today. The Gettysburg Museum of History is a throw back to those days, except the owner is not capitalizing on tourists because admission is free. Don't expect detailed narratives to accompany the exhibits. Militaria collectors will love it, as will most people with a basic knowledge of American history. Relic hunters will salivate over the excavated artifacts from the Civil War and World War II. The owner is an expert on the artifacts in his collection, many of which were handed down through his family--his great-great grandfather owned a farm over which part of Pickett's Charge took place. This museum is a hybrid of the old-fashioned Gettysburg museums and Ripley's Believe it or Not. Make sure you check out the owner's girl friend, too. She's worth the visit alone. ;-)

Cozy and warm. It is like you are in your favorite room, favorite chair, reading your favorite history book. Though the book explodes into details, items, artifacts. Though you are still warm, cozy, and feel like you are welcome. This isn't sterilized or musty, not bright lights and special effects or boring and same old same old. The curator is the real deal. Each item has been in his hands, has a story he knows, has been selected by him, and cared by him. He is authentic. Not everything is in perfect condition, but I'd rather see a rifle or musket that is bent and broken then one that I wonder if it real. This isn't a Gettysburg History Museum, this is a History Museum in Gettysburg. You can see JFK memorabilia, Marilyn Monroe's bra, WW2 uniforms, and of course there is Gettysburg and Civil War items. Items from the battle pulled from the ground by the owners family farm. My fiancé is only into history because of my passion and his eyes took in everything that there was to see there. He was like a kid in the candy store. This place is for enthusiast like myself and the second hand enthusiast. Warning: This is a free museum. Brought to you from someone who really cares and wants to bring his passion. In a day and age when museums are $15 a pop ( with the exception of the tax funded Smithsonian) this is someone who is doing this without tax aid; he is privately owned. A donation is welcomed and encouraged. Not only to support the small mom and pops but to support someone who is providing one of the best museums I've ever been too.

A must see. Before my wife and I got there we were not expecting the amount of stuff they had in that small place. A lot of interesting things. Well put together. Definitely will go back

There are so many amazing artifacts in such a small space. My husband and I kept calling to one another, "oh my, did you see this?!" Absolutely amazing. Very cool place, would definitely visit again and recommend!

Second time in the museum ... the 360 degree panaromic view (painted in the 1800's) lends visual credibility as to what had happened on the battlefield on day 3 of the battle... there are over 20,000 soldiers depicted on the battlefield ... see if you can find Abe Lincoln in one of the depictions (hint: he's wounded and being carried by 2 men near a water well) ....
