We had a lot of fun. This cider mill had a lot of fun activitys for the kids, corn maze, goat petting, very lage slides, and a nice play area. We will be visiting again soon.
OK - they're farmers, not merchants, but still...... there's a lot of money walking out the door. Corn maze was not for the grandkids, they turned around and came back out. Play equipment for the 7 & 9 year old was fun and suitable, they went for about an hour. Portapotties only, several available. Cider has a shorter line, cider slushes were good. Plentiful parking, admission is 8 bucks, period.
but they do a great job of making it a destination for you and your family. Their cider is delicious. I am particularly fond of the frozen cider. Oh my! It's so delicious -- everything, I didn't have a problem of going there by myself. Unfortunately, the day I chose to go their power had been out and was just going to be restored, so there weren't any doughnuts to eat with the cider. They make their own cider and you can watch. It's fascinating. If this year's batch of doughnuts are anything like last year's you will not be disappointed. I made several trips to be sure to bring them to office meetings, and classes I was taking. Besides having lots of picnic tables, they also have a huge rocking chair which is a great spot for taking some cute pictures. They also have an inflatable play area for kids, a corn maze, and hay ride. You can pick apples yourself, and when I went they were also selling their family's farm produce -- the most delicious bi-color corn I've ever had. The price is reasonable and they do the 7 as 1/2 dozen and 13 as a dozen thing. Delightful in every way makes you come back again and again. Franklin Cider mill is getting way too busy and way to commercialized. It's lost it's charm. Although Long Family Orchard and Farm doesn't have the water wheel or stream, it's still got a strong country feel. The people are very pleasant and it's a friendly spot to spend some time.
They know how to provide the best in fresh produce - corn, asparagus, tomatoes, apples, etc. - all year round.Their apple cider, donuts, etc., are some of the best in the area.
Like the cider and the hot donuts are wonderful. Grand kids like the corn maze and picking out a pumpkin. We also visit the fruit stand for asparagus in the spring and tomatoes and corn in the summer.
If you like your self a hot fresh donut that just metls in you're mouth then this is your spot bar none the best cider mill in oakland county! Don't forget to wash it down with some cider now... :) you might gain a few pounds but it sooooo worth it!
I just came home from visiting the Long Family Orchard, Farm & Cider Mill. I am a native to metro Detroit and I have visited most cider mills within 50 miles. Today the weather was nice and on the way home I decided to take the family for a stop at the cider mill...Long family was right on the way so I decided to stop there and try it out. The set up was nice and it wasn't too crowded and I was able to walk right in, grab a bagged dozen of cinnamon-sugar donuts and went for a gallon on fresh cider and they were out of out of gallons but they did have plenty of half gallons so I grabbed 2 halves. They were slightly high priced but that is to be expected when buying fresh cider and donuts from a local mill. I proceeded to the counter followed by an older gentleman who stepped up to the counter next to me. He asked if the 2 half gallons of cider would count as one since they were out of full gallon jugs. (The gallon was priced at $7.00 and the half was $4.50) The young lady turned to the heavyset blond older woman at my register and asked her the same questions and the older woman let out a sigh and whispered a response to the young lady. The young lady explained to the gentleman that they don't usually do that but they will today considering the circumstance. She charged him $7.00 and I turn to the woman who gave the discount and she proceeded to charge my $9.00 for the same 2 half gallons. I questioned her about the transaction and she said no...they don't discount it...the price is what it is and would not give me the same deal that was given to the guy that was actually behind me. I am not one to pull out the race card but in this situation, it was the only difference between me and the guy next to me. I was very disappointed to say the least but I just smiled, paid for my items and left the store. I explained what happened to the woman at the pumpkin stand and she was instantly embarrassed and proceeded to give me a $2.00 refund and apologized profusely. This was my first time coming to this cider mill and needless to say, it will be my last.Aside from that, the Cider and the donuts were very good!!
