Spent a delightful afternoon at Northern Latitudes with family the week before Christmas -- it was so much fun to try all the spirits and then enjoy some of the imaginative cocktails prepared using them! Prices are reasonable, and the rustic atmosphere is charming. Truthfully, I could have sat there all afternoon.... Great place to squeeze in a little last minute Christmas shopping too -- an amazing inventory of barware and home decor items. Stop afterward at the Thunderbird Cafe next door for soup/sandwiches to take home!
Frequented this little "gem" a couple of months ago, and went back only to purchase two of their products. Over the course of the holidays I had rave comments about my Bloody Mary's. What was my secret? Zing Zang and their Horseradish Vodka! Garnish however you like, but the Vodka makes for your secret ingredient! Secondly, they have a Ginger Root Liquor. Two "levels" now available, regular and what I will call "sassy". Great with a splash of Canada Dry Ginger Ale over rocks. A perfect winter warm me up. I will keep going back. No need for the outrageous tastings........4 free samples, and the adjacent bar where they have exceptional mixologists. The place is becoming very popular, so prepare for a wait. Even at 11 am on a Friday after New Years! I will be back, because I know what I like!
Even if you're a teetotaler, this distillery has plenty of things to see and buy. But if you like Bloody Mary's, you have to sample theirs that they make with their very own horseradish infused vodka - best I've ever had! I bought one bottle, and after I got home wished I'd bought a lot more. It's that good. Unfortunately, they do not distribute their products (yet), so you can only buy them there. We also tried their other spirits, and while they certainly are tasty - the horseradish vodka was utterly amazing.
These folks have done a top notch job at distilling some very tasty and interesting spirits - the Apollo Horseradish Vodka, which I admit I had severe doubts about, made it home with us for Bloody Marys. The Greek god Apollo was associate with healing and let me tell you, this stuff is good for what ails you! The Jack Pine Gin has wonderfully complex flavor - all on its own or with tonic - and as Mandy taught us, with a squeeze of fresh orange for a very fresh flavored touch. The atmosphere is great wit a lot of unusual touches and the staff are fun and friendly and of course, the drive up and around that area is drop dead gorgeous (even on a cold wet fall day such as we had)......My only complaint - I live too far to be there weekly!
Stopped here on a whim while wine tasting. Staff very nice and friendly, pourer was hilarious. Spirits are strong in my opinion. A lot of folks like their horseradish vodka for bloody Mary's, which you can try. Fifths are about $30, fairly pricy to me. Th experience was awesome, so. Highly recommend it. They have a lot of gifts and a bar where you can purchase drinks made with their spirits.
My husband loved this side trip to the distillery. I know a distillery doesn't seam like a place for kids but they have a great play area for them while you do the tasting. The customer service was exceptional, they made us fell like we were old friends. it was a great time. I am not much of a drinker by my husband loved the Gin and the Horseradish Vodka, said it made a great Bloody-Mary.
The horseradish vodka made here creates a 'kick in' Bloody Mary!!! Nice tasting room and an area to sit and enjoy a drink. Stopped here during a wine tour on the Leelanau Penninsula for a change of tastes. It got quite crowded as many others had the same idea.
Great Vodka & other spirits. Check out the Horseradish vodka. You can get free samples or buy a nice varitity of mixed cocktails.
We had enjoyed some tastes of their fine products at the Taste of Traverse City and had decided to add it to our trip visiting some local wineries. We were on our way back to our camp site and stopped on the way. We were pleasantly pleased by the interior of the their establishment. They were packed too! This was at 4:00 on a Sunday! We had a nice young man explain the alcohols that they offered and what drinks that they would be good in. He was very knowledgeable about their products. If you like premium hand crafted liquors, hit this great stop during your tour of the wineries. You won't be disappointed.
Visited for second time yesterday and enjoyed it even more! What fun! Nice, hospitable young man shared "tastes" with us and we had cocktails at the bar! Great atmosphere, friendly folks, good drinks!!!! We'll be back!!!!
This place is great! Spent week in Lake Leelanau and had not seen this ahead of time on TripAdvisor. Dropped in since there was alway cars in lot and pleasantly suprised! Owner sitting at still inside very nice to talk to. Free tastings (5?) were great and have bar were they can mix you any drink on their long list. I am not typically a drinker so really liked their suggested recipies. Will be a regular stop now when we come back!
This was our first distillery visit. The facility was beautiful - the distilling apparatus and the gorgeous woodwork in the building. We were lucky and were hosted by the co-owner. Learned a lot about distilling and enjoyed the "no charge" tasting after paying at the vineyards in the area. But the best part was the Limoncello (they said they zested 800 lemons) and the Mackinac Island Fudge Liqueur. We may have tasted for free, but we didn't escape without making a few purchases. Back home in Minnesota now and have shared our finds with friends - well, we didn't share a lot, just a nice taste of each - we're a little stingy with this stuff!
The owners of this Distillery and the nicest folks and really make some of the best tasting liquors. I personally love their Horseradish Vodka in my Bloody Mary's and my husband is a fan of their Gin. You won't be disappointed with a stop here and be sure to purchase some of their products for gifts!
My husband and I have been to this wonderful distillery a few times with friends. The product is top notch! We especially liked the Mackinac Island Fudge Liqueur, the Limoncello, and the jack Pin Gin, but everything we tasted was good. We talked to the owners, Mark and Mandy, and could tell they put so much love and effort into the business. The whole place is people, and believe it or not, family friendly with an area for the kids to hang out and enjoy some activities. We will definitely continue to bring our visitors to this fun and friendly distillery.
I live near Northern Latitudes and am always amazed at how busy they are in such a small town. I am sure the reason is that it is a fun place with good and unique products. Whether taste testing for enjoying a mixed drink, this place is worth the stop!
