We learned a lot at this museum. Probably geared toward older children (8+) as our homeschooled kids are 12 and 16 and thought it was interesting.

Who learned much about the War of 1812?? That is a shame because we were close to being British subjects again if it had not gone our way. This new battleground educates us as to how important the conflicts in the midwest were to turn the tide in America's favor.Manned by enthusiastic and knowledgable staff, our visit here was informative and enjoyable. Do try on the period uniforms they have as part of the visit.

We spent two days in Monroe. History-wise, we knew a little about General Custer's history in Monroe, but decided to follow the "Battlefield" signs just inside Monroe along the River Raisin. We were pleasantly surprised. It's new as far as national park status, and quite small. But we learned a lot about the deadliest battle of the War of 1812, not only from the informative visitors center (including narrated "light show") and plaques but also from the enthusiastic, informative, helpful staff. This was an hour or so well-spent.

I like history, and the beauty of it is it's outside and they have a lot scheduled events. There are a few other small museum buildings that would be fun to visit. Call the Monroe County Historical Museum for times and places of other places to visit.

Stopped in here with parents. Stop in here and learn about the War of 1812. Nice visitor center, knowledgable park rangers, good movie and battle map. Walk the area. Do the free junior ranger program for kids of all ages.

Learn about the War of 1812 beyond the burning of Washington and the Lake Erie battle. Demonstrations and reenactments are superb. A little gem.

Visited not knowing this was such a new park. Based on the amount of current historical media (LED board depicting the battle evolution), the terrific ranger presentation, the models of the town and geography, the uniforms available to experience encumbrance, and the outdoor pathway, this park was perfect for a quick visit!I'd really enjoy visiting this park in a few years to see how much more material, media and otherwise, would add to the overall experience.

The battle at River Raisin was one of the largest battles of the War of 1812. This is also a recent addition to the National Park system and is in a growing period. As with many battlefields, there aren't many "attractions" to see, but a walk around the site can give you a feel for the site. The staff were very helpful and informative and the presentation is very informative in explaining the events surrounding the battle as well as the battle itself.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and friendly. The place gives you a brief overview of the war of 1812. The displays were great. I would like to see them add more outside in the battlefields.

Very nice visitor's center. Well staffed with knowledgeable folks. Close to the Heritage Trail, a 5 mile trek or bike route to the Sterling State Park.

It's only a few miles from I-75, and I've driven by the sign on I-75 many times on my way to Detroit. I decided to visit, and it's excellent. The ranger was an absolute gem, full of historical information. The battle was a huge defeat for the Americans in the the War of 1812. As usual, we try to forget about our defeats, and remember our victories. The visitor center is unusual, located in an old residence, but well done considering the limitations.

The visitor's center is very well done, and the outdoor areas have gotten a good start. The park has some very nice special programs, and they are growing into an excellent national historic site.

I did not set out to visit River Raisin National Battlefield, but I'm glad I did. The battlefield itself is sparse, as battlefields often are, but there are several good markers and a stroll around the grounds is rewarding even if you don't pay attention to the history. Stepping into the museum reveals a very well thought-out set of displays, videos, and artifacts. In five minutes, the coarse outline of the events of the battle are clear. Spend a little more time and some very interesting details will emerge. Sit down for the 15-minute presentation and the local environs will take on a whole new significance. Chat with Ron, an ex-teacher of history and local RRNBP expert, and you will never look at Monroe the same again.

Nice little museum. Good local history lesson. Very helpful park ranger. Very walkable and handicapped accessible paths to read the markers outside. Good informative video.

Interesting place to check out, worth stopping in. If you like local (or even not so local) history / historical sites / or other fun places it is worth stopping. There is info about the history of the site, the area, and the Native American's who lived here before. It is kind of oddly tucked away down a weird side street, so if your GPS is taking you somewhere that seems kind of odd, it's actually probably right.
