Wallace State Park is gorgeous. I grew up very close to there. And when I think of the park I always think of home. It is clean and well kept with beautiful scenery.

If you want to get away from it all, this is the park to visit. Lots of undeveloped wooded areas with campsites available. Trails for hiking and a lake to fish.

The sites were spacious and clean. The bathrooms were very clean with roomy showers. Grounds were well kept. Staff personnel were excellent and helpful. Senior discount available.

My 11-year-old and I visited on a day trip to hike the trails one day in July. The trails here, like all Missouri State Parks, are well marked, well-mapped, and well-maintained. We LOVED seeing the animal tracks, listening to the birds, and identifying the plants along the path. After hiking one of the trails, we drove over to check out the campground - simple but clean and quiet. The lake at the center is a great place for reunions and picnics - and they have a volleyball court set up in the Day Use area, too! What a great day trip!! Tip: You DEFINITELY want to spray for ticks before going on your hike - we used the strongest stuff we could find (and I HATE using chemicals on our bodies!) and we were still picking ticks off the whole time. Due to this, we cut our hiking short. Looking forward to cooler weather and fewer ticks!

We enjoyed walking the longest, 3 mile, Deer Run trail, and there are other shorter trails to walk, however they are unpaved, and mostly just grass & dirt. So you can't ride your bike there, unless on the street. And even if you just came to hike, the trails could really use some work. I'm sure after a rain, they would be too muddy to walk. The trails go through lovely woods, where there is plenty of downed tree limbs that could be used for mulch. I think renting a chipper and taking it through the trails, chipping as they go, would greatly approve the trails. There is a pretty lake and nice camping sites.

I loved it here. Beautiful and peaceful lake with lovely trail around it. Poor fishing, not even a bite, but absolutely relaxing and beautiful.

I visited Wallace State Park in January. Beautiful. Empty. Many sites to choose from. Campgrounds with electric hookups and many without. Great trails. Take your dog(s)!

Wallace State Park campsite is now my favorite campsite close to home in Kansas City. We didn't have great expectations on our first time staying here but were very pleasantly surprised. This is a terrific, shady, clean, well planned out State Park with a pond (they call it a lake) with a swimming area and plenty of room to fish. There are trails around each campground site that lead to the other campgrounds as well as a few day use areas, the pond and the outdoor theater. Plenty of water and electric sites. The shower rooms/bathrooms are clean and well kept and everyone was very friendly and mostly quiet. This isn't a 'party campground' if that is what you're looking for! We've been twice now and we will definitely be spending more time here!

My husband, 2 kids, sister and brother-in-law and my parents all camped at Wallace State Park for the 4th of July holiday. It is such a nice clean campground. LOTS of trees, a lake, hiking trails, clean showers and bathrooms.

This park, just south of Cameron, was a quiet retreat the day we visited. There was a lovely small lake, trails and neat, clean campsites, many with privacy.

Take the grandkids or just wife and I every so often to walk around the little lake. Nice trail. If you want more adventure it has several other much longer trails. Swimming during the summer. Lot of people also fish (but I have never seen any one with fish). Stay on the path as there is a lot of poison ivy growing in the woods. Nice relaxing place. Also has small playgroun and nice picnic area for groups. Have been to a number of groups having activities there. Camping site also available.

Beautiful park with plenty of space between you and the next door camper. Quiet and peaceful with easy trails. We saw a doe with two little ones on our hike. Nice walking trail around the lake/pond too. Shower houses are kept super clean. Lots of awesome non elecric sites back in the woods. There was a presentation at the ampitheater we didn't make it to. We had a great stay here!

We had a family reunion at Wallace State Park. We reserved a pavilion near the lake. It was perfect! There were restrooms nearby, a large grill near the pavilion, a playground for kids nearby and then, of course, the lake. The lake has a sand bar area that acts as a mini-beach and then walking trails all around the perimeter. The kids stayed busy from 11 am until we left at 6 pm and they didn't want to leave then! This is a great place for families with lots of outdoor activity options. There were others there enjoying the lake and at distant pavilions, but we weren't cramped and it felt as though we nearly had the place to ourselves. The bathrooms are essentially permanent port-a-potties - chemical toilets rather than actual plumbing and there were no sinks in the bathroom, but there was a drinking fountain with a water spigot near the pavilion. Hand sanitizer would be a good thing to pack. We paid only $40 for the use of a large pavilion. Fun times!

I went tent camping and hiking with my husband and 3.5 year old son. This is our second camping trip as a family and we camped for 2 nights. Campsites are different but they all have gravel area with picnic table and fire ring and a wood chip area for tent camping. Vault toilets and water spigots are spaced throughout campground. Wonderful showers with hot water and good pressure. There are 2 playgrounds, one has sandbox and the other has playground equipment. Park is extremely well maintained and trails and paved roads hook up with each other so depending on energy levels, one can take short or long hikes and bail out on the paved roads as a shortcut. Lovely wooded trails provide plenty of shade. Lake is small, but nice feature.
