We make it a yearly summer tradition to come to the drive in as many times as we can. You can't beat the price per person to see two current movies and the concession stand has very reasonable prices! We've encountered a few problems over the years with rowdy patrons or unreasonable obstructed views of the screen, but the staff quickly handled the situation, you just can't be afraid to ask. We try to go on Sundays because that tends to be when they are the least packed, but sometimes that isn't the case. You also want to make sure to show up reasonable early, sometimes 45 minutes to an hour before the gate opens to wait in line to make sure you get a good spot. It's stuff like this you have to do when you have such an awesome place to go to that everyone wants to be there!

Brilliant night, such great fun, plenty of refreshments and cheap as well some people took deck chairs and picnics we would do that next time

Our family of 4 got to see 2 movies for less than it costs to go to the traditional movie theater for one. The gentleman who runs the drive-in was really nice and answered our questions when we drove by to check it out (as we were out-of-towners who wanted to give our kiddos the experience while on vacation). The concession stand was great. The restrooms were clean. The whole night was AWESOME!

My first visit to a drive in and I LOVED it! Two good movies, great weather(breezy with lightning to the north) made for an excellent time! Only complaint I have is to make sure first 3 or 4 rows IS just cars...had a truck in front of me that took out a bit of my otherwise awesome view. Also loved the concession stand although I bought too much trying to support the theater. The BBQ sandwich was a bit spicy for me but great as were the popcorn and polish sausage and the prices were very reasonable. BRING FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND KEEP THIS OPEN!!! There was a couple from France behind me who were traveling the 66 route on holiday and their first drive in experience too.

Going to the 66 Drive In is a fun way to watch a movie. Being outdoors and taking in the picture on the big screen is a unique time for all. There is a feel of anticipation in the air as you wait for the show to start and as you watch the fun everyone around you is having visiting and hanging out. The concession stand is great too. They show current movies. Definitely a must do if you are in Carthage during the outdoor movie season.

Staying at the Boots Motel in Carthage on our Rte. 66 adventure, it was brought to our attention that the drive-in shows a double feature Fri., Sat., and Sun. evenings. Families line up on the road in their pick-ups, vans and cars, waiting for the gates to open at 8:45pm. Hotdogs, popcorn, ice cream, etc. available. Play area in front of the screen before dark. Reminds me of the good old times of drive-in movies in the San Francisco Bay Area, back in the 50s, with my family and friends. Too bad those drive-ins are extinct now.

The back view of the cinema screen features in many a road trip book, so take your own photo as you pass. Not much to see, just the back of a big screen with “66 Drive In Theatre Carthage” on it, but take the photo anyway.

Where else can you step back in time? From the great price for two movies to the vintage intermission film there is nothing better! The food is delicious, the popcorn is great and the staff is friendly. We go every year & we have never been let down. A sheriff walks the lot so there are no rowdy groups and let's face it...the drive in can never be replaced with a stuffy theater venue. We will return soon.

I lived right down the street from the Drive-In. It's one of my favorite places in a small town. Great people, yummy snacks and awesome movies! Get there early and wait in line so you can get a good spot. Perfect for families and couples. Had a lot of awesome memories here at 66 Drive-In. It's a must see on old Highway 66! :)

We love everything about this place! Two movies for the price of one, they take request on FB for movies you want to see, the snacks are cheap, bathrooms are clean, there is play ground equipment for the kids to play on before the movie and intermission. Yes we really do LOVE this place!!!

I have gone to this drive in several times in my life. It is nice to sit in the privacy of your own car and watch the film and you don't have to deal with stranger's cell phones ringing. The sound is also provided to you through the radio so the quality of the sound all depends on what your car has. The last time I went the price was 8 dollars for two movies, that is half the price of the theater in Joplin so the deal was worth the drive to Carthage. This drive in has a play area for kids underneath the screen. They even light up the area during intermission. They also play old advertisements during the intermission which is really neat. The only down side is that they are only open during the summer time. They don't start the movie until the sun sets but there is a line long before then. If you arrive an hour before they open, then you get close to the front of the line and your choice of a spot but you will also have a wait ahead of you. As far as spots go, I would aim for one near the snack bar. This will get you near the front of the bathroom and snack line during intermission. Now, you can bring snacks of your own but the owners would prefer you buy them there and will even show you a short advertisement about how the sell of food keeps the place in business. I personally would like to see this gem hang around for years to come.

Usually they will play a family friendly movie first and then one more for the adults so let the little one take a nap and have a little fun for yourself. Drive ins are hard to come by so don't miss the opportunity to experience one.

We didn't get a chance to see a movie, as we were only there one day, but you simply MUST stop here on your Rt.66 journey, or if you are in Carthage, MO. It is a beautiful, iconic photo op!

It is a good experience to go to the drive in theater. You will be on you own car to see the movie with a big screen. You can bring a chair to sit outside of your car. 7 dollars/person (cash only)This was my first time an I was so happy about it. However, I did not like the movie at all. Therefore, I leaved early (when they had breaktime.)

Really fascinating place to visit and is a real step back in time. I really would have loved to have seen a movie here but it was not to be. As Ii said, you will get some good photos here and it is worth pausing for. Look for the sign on the gate if it is closed!
