Horrible experience! I talked to a Sherry on the phone to see if they would be open on Jan 3rd and to let her know that I drove 200 miles last year only to find out they were closed and she hung up on me!! Not only that, but was acting rude and was combative with me. She kept asking why am I just now letting her know this? Well why not? A) I want to come down and make sure your open this time B) I already have you on the phone so I wanted to let you know of my inconvenience I experienced last time. So what if it was last year? I wanted to let you know of my experience and you don't care? Why act like that? So after she hung up on me I called back. The next lady who answered didn't identify herself (neither did Sherry). So I asked "may I speak with a manager?" she said "I am". I asked "who am I talking to" and she answered me with a question "how can I help you" . Several times I had to ask for her name, finally got it, Linda. But why? Why the games? Then I let her know of my experience with Sherry and I told her if I ever hung up on a customer at my job I would have been fired. Then she asked me where I worked. Why? Why do you need to know where I work? Then she proceeded to do the same thing as Sherry by saying "Why are you now letting us now of what happened last year?" So I explained that I am a single parent and I never have the time to call, but I am on the phone now with you, to which she says "We are all single parents here" Really? Everyone that works there are single parents? So then she asked me what day I went down (it was either the 24th or 26th of December last year). She said "We were open" I said "um, no you weren't" she said "yes we were" I said "so i was delusional and not there? my son was there with me and he also knows you were not open" to which again she said "No, we were open" so now even the manager is being combative with me! wow, I see where the employees get their customer service skills. Then she said "if your active duty we'll give you a discount" I said "I am a veteran, but not active" she said "the discount is only for active". I finally decided that the whole phone call, both of them, was a waste of my time. My son and I will never visit there again. Love the caves, but the service is awful and worst ever.

Since I retired a few years ago I have been doing some maintenance work at the Mark Twain Cave and Campground. I also guide tours in both Mark Twain and Cameron Cave as well. I never get tired of working or guiding in either cave and it is somewhat humbling to work in Mark Twain Cave knowing that Samuel Clemons explored and played in the same passageways that I now walk myself. This is a fantastic time of year to visit us, the tours in Mark Twain Cave are small, the bats are beginning to hibernate for the winter so you will get to see a few, and the frogs are starting to appear in our water features also. For the less adventurous or for after the tour we have our winery to visit as well. Hope to see you in the cave.

The cave was awesome, the husband took hundreds of pictures and it was great how they wrapped the history of the town in the tour of the caves. It is a must see!!

The tour guide was quite entertaining. The tour of the cave was very easy even for small children. There were no steps or steep inclines.

There isn't a lot of pretty formations here but is chock full of history & our guide made it interesting & fun!

Mark twain cave and the surrounding hannibal sites can be very crowded during the summer so try visiting in fall. I've been several times but never during the off season until recently. The mark twain cave tour was informative and the guide very entertaining. The group was small and we were never hurried along. Historical downtown has many restaurants, shops and historical places of interest. A lot can be done in a day but two days is more relaxing

The tour was an hour long and it really seemed to fly by. Our tour guide was funny and very knowledgeable about the cave and local legends. A must see if you visit Hannibal.

Dare I say this is the "Injun Joe" cave from Mark Twains book. However, even if it didn't have a connection to MT this would be a worthwhile stop for anyone. The cave is very cool and I have enjoyed even telling firends about it.

Visited the Mark Twain cave and enjoyed the geology AND the history. Tour guide was new, but knew her script. As a relatively dry cave, there are few live formations. However, if you like caves this is worth the visit.

The cave itself has interesting formations and an interesting history with the locals and Jesse James. If you are claustrophobic you may want to think twice about going in, as it is 250 ft. below the surface at one point, which made my husband uncomfortable for a bit. They also age cheese in a part of the cave, which is interesting. And if you are interested in haunting/macabre stories, there was a local physician who at one time "pickled" his young dead daughter in the cave for a time. Strange things! Slippery spots are also found there, so wear non-skid soles on your shoes.

Went here as a kid, took our kids and now grand-kids. A much smaller cave than Meremac Caverns, so a very different feel. Lots of history about Mark Twain's childhood and Tom Sawyer's exploits.

We toured the Mark Twain Cave. I was a little afraid of being too claustrophobic, but asked the cashier and guide several questions. They were both really nice and answered the questions. I was really glad we did the cave as I was not claustrophobic at all and it was really amazing. I loved that the guide included the Tom Sawyer stories as part of his narrative. It was a great experience.

We chose to tour the Cameron Cave because it was a less commercialized cave. Although we have toured numerous caves, I really enjoyed this one. It had quartz formations all over the walls that were fascinating. Our tour guide was a delightful and informative. He made it interesting and fun. We even saw a few bats up close. It is worth the stop if you are in the area.

Good cave tour by guide Ed, who added his own special touches along the way. Friendly and informative. Quite a different cave - such a maze, and all the signatures from so many years ago were quite interesting. Too bad Cameron Cave was closed for the season. We really came for the campground. Away from town, it's quiet and peaceful tucked in the trees. Very well run. Super friendly staff in the office. The facilities of bathroom/shower/laundry were immaculate. Don't miss the winery-some tasty treats here! We bought more than one bottle from the knowledgeable gal behind the counter.
