History buffs will be very happy to see the old city and the historical story behind this town. Didn't have enough time on this visit to tour all that was available.

There are some very beautiful older homes here that had fallen into disrepair. It's clear that the Museum Hill Neighborhood Association is working hard to reclaim the area and save those homes. If I had the money to fix one up, I would certain buy one. I can see how the neighborhood has improved over the last 5 years. Worth a drive to see these homes.

This may be a historic district, but it is in reality a slum. A large percentage of the homes are boarded up and abandoned. The ones that have people living in them are a mess. We did not see one house that was restored and we drove up and down many streets. I left feeling so sad because it could be a lovely area.

Loved the buildings and styles but sad to see them rundown. This was quite the area in its time. Would be great if people had the money to restore them to their quality of earlier days. Definitely worth driving through the area if you like historic period houses.

Steeples, towers , domes, if its architecture that is your fancy then you will definitely enjoy a walk around. Museum Hill Historic District is a jewell that will make you smile and wonder at the craftsmanship of the past. A neighborhood in the mist of re-enchantment ...this is a place to explore.

I am so impressed that there is such a dedication from home owners in this district to restore their homes. It takes a huge effort to trun a neighborhood around. The Architecture in this district is out-standing and so worth being saved. Only thing I can say negative is that I would love to see more people in the district get educated on how important and special their properties are and motivate them to take care of what they have. Just picking up trash makes a difference..

The Museum Hill Historic District is home to a diverse community of people with one thing in common - an appreciation for historic architecture! Drive around the streets of Museum Hill to appreciate the styles of Victorian architecture here that range from Italianate to Queen Anne, to Victorian Cottages. But the crowning glory in Museum Hill is undisputably the magnificent Wyeth-Tootle mansion, built in 1879. This castle-like building sits imperiously on a whole city block! You'll also be amazed at the fabulous churches here, too, including Twin Spires cathedral and the First Church of Christ Scientist (both of which are currently for sale - seeking the right owner!) The Museum Hill Historic District is a mecca for history, architecture, and photography buffs. Don't miss a drive through this neighborhood when visiting Saint Jo.

Museum Hill HIstoric District is full of over 300 victorian homes. Currently it is not formally organized for tourism. Members of the local Museum Hill Neighborhood Association are working and hope over the next few years to update the walking tour, and work with the Convention and VIsitors Bureau to make this an easier venue to tour. For now, if you are visiting St. Joseph please feel free to drive around and just look at the grand mansions and varied architectural treasures. If you know architecture...this place is awesome! I have a home there and know there is great opportunity for tourism. BUT for now....there is limited information that is readily available for others coming to learn the stories and history of one of St. Joseph MO's oldest and most diverse neighborhoods.Best wishes!
