We go to the Muny at least once each summer and sometimes more. We love it each and every time! Forest Park is beautiful and the Muny has great shows!
The musicals are such fun and great and the open air theater couldn't be nicer. When younger I'd sit in the free seats but sure fun to sit closer and see more. St. Louis is so lucky to have the Muny.So many stars have come here too.
Amazing historic out door theater that offers some wonderful shows. There are just not many awesome places like The Muny
Spring/Summer is a terrific time to be outside and spend an enchanting evening at the Muny Theatre. If you aren't able to get tickets to an event, you can go early and try to snag some of the free seats located at the back.
This outdoor amphitheater is located in beautiful Forest Park and is open for it's season each summer. This is the place in STL to musical theater in the summertime. There are a limited number of free seats available on a first come first serve basis otherwise you purchase a reserved seat in advance or at the box office.
This is a must visit place! I went for the first time here and loved it. Get there early before the show and there performers on the side of the Muny. Also there are many great spots for photo ops. Inside the Muny during the summer when it's warm they have nice large QUIET fans going to keep air circulating.
Some of my best summer memories include camping outside in Forest Park with a picnic, and getting free seats. It can be a bit musty in the summer with the humidity, but I just dress accordingly and am comfortable. It's a fabulous location, and a great experience every time I go. :)
The quiet fans have really made a difference, though this summer was so mild that might not have been as needed! It is always a fun summer experience. Love that there are free seats so that anyone can take advantage of the Muny.
attended on a cool August evening, which is unusual in St. Louis, it had rained, hard, all day up to one hour prior to the show but the staff worked diligently to get the stage safe for the show. Wonderful performance on stage nice evening
Didn't have time to go this visit, July 2014, but have many fond memories of seeing everybody from Florence Henderson to Arthur Godfrey there as a kid in the late sixties/early seventies. Free seats weren't bad, and I noticed this year that the first paid section 2/3's back is only like $14, so a great family value. Don't miss if you're staying long enough to fit it in.
The Muny is a must do for anyone who loves live performance. Even when it's hot in August, the fans keep it cool as well as the cold drinks. :)
Historic structure that gives fans of all ages the thrill of live shows in an outside venue like none other. Spectacular experience in all price ranges including free seats. Summer at the muny is a must for theater fans.
This is a great place to catch a play during the summer. It is a large amphitheater in Forrest Park with plays changing each week in the summer. The hot and humid St Louis summers are good with the new fans. You can take in a sealed bottle of water/drink and snack too if you don't want to purchase anything. For $$ conscious folks, Free seats each night but get there by 6 for the 8 pm showing.
What a place, there is no other place like it, friends, music, acting and more. The several years we have been going we are always thrilled with the musicals we see.
This outdoor musical theater is a treasure in St. Louis. I share season tickets and attend a minimum of 3-4 shows each summer. The offerings each year offer shows to fit most tastes. While heavy in traditional musicals (think Hello Dolly, My Fair Lady, etc), more recently there has been other types of shows as well. The talent is both local and national and is usually excellent. While there have been some hot summer nights, this year the discomfort has been alleviated with large but silent fans that cool most of the seats. I love sitting in the orchestra seats, but free seats in the back rows are a lot of fun as well. Bring a picnic for before the show, or eat at the nearby Boathouse, or snack at the concessions at the show. Always a fun evening!
