We simply took a drive around the lake to view the water and homes. The area was beautiful. There was a nice park where you can stop to really take in the view.
It's a beautiful lake. It's actually a river, but it's not overbuilt and it's fabulous for kayaking. Easy access with parking. Free boat launch. Go for a great inexpensive beautiful day on the water. Definately a destination, take a lunch, there are no food facilities, but they do have potr-a-pots
great for wakeboarding, watersports except waverunner b/c not many waves to jump. wipe, deep and very pretty!
I used to put my canoe in at Lake Lillinonah and enjoyed paddling along the many inlets. Though there were some motorboats which liked to torment paddlers by generating large waves, most motorboat users respected paddlers and gave them wide berth. The two issues which drove us away from Lake Lillinonah were the high nitrogen levels resulting from the large amounts of algae and millefoil, followed by being told that Danbury's waste water treatment product was pumped into the lake. Ewwww.
On a trip back from New Milford, we stopped in Bridgewater for sandwiches, then drove down to the boat launch area on the Lake and ate them. It could not have been more beautiful !!!
great peacefull place for canoeing or boating to fish and relax ..nice place for fall foilage and great fishing spot
Our family loved walking around the shore on this lake, discussing the histories of both settlers and natives in the area. Lovely scenery, great options for places to wander around, and all super close to settled areas full of places to stop and eat. Don't fail to notice the (usually) clean solar-powered composting toilets made available for visitors!
Lake Lillinonah is a beautiful treasure to be respected and protected. I enjoy the beauty of this lake so much I joined the Lake Lillinonah Authority to do what I can to protect this jewel for future generations to savor.
I have not been on the lake but the hiking trails are nice. Easy to spend a couple of hours just walking around the lake through the woods away from road noise and people. Mostly easy trails with a few steep climbs and drops. If its wet, wear the right shoes.
I grew up near "lake Lilly" . Its a flooded section of the "housy" for hydro-elec. Not alot of houses on the lake compared to Candlewood. Quiet on weekdays for boating and kayaking. Great fishing too.
This lake is part of the Housitonic River. It's pretty but there's not much public access. If you fish there's boat access. It has never been developed for swimming like other lakes along this river.
Beautiful lake with beaches and parks, good for fishing and boating.
Feel the sun on your face, while you have a picnic lunch on the rocks overlooking this pretty lake. You can swim in the lake, or take a motor boat or canoe/kayak. Postings and photos with history of the area, too!
