We went to day with a group of 20 to the corn maze and ice cream store. Our group included parents, adults w/o kids, and kids from 8 weeks to 14 years. Everyone had a great time. The group rate for all activities except the air cannon was $7.50/person which is pretty affordable for what you get. The regular price is a bit more at just over $9. The corn maze has two paths and was not too long or tough. If you are a real corn maze fanatic it might be to simple for you. The kids loved the corn pit to play in, straw bales to climb on, hay ride (you get to feed cows!) and cow barrel ride. The big kids loved the air cannon too. It is extra -$1/2 shots but well worth it. The staff was very friendly and helpful though honestly I never saw the corn cops who are supposed to help you if you get lost in the maze. There are also hot dogs and pumpkins for sale by the maze. The ice cream stand is a short drive away, just around the corner on the main road. It was a bit pricely compared to other farm stand ice creams ($6+ for 3 scoops) but the servings were generous. The ice cream was rich with little air in it. There is plenty of parking and benches to sit on outside. A couple of people in our group said their ice cream had a banana-like flavor though they ordered things that should not have had banana. My dairy-free daughter was able to have sorbet though they only have one flavor of it. Fortunately, it was one she liked (red raspberry). All in all a veyr enjoyable day and great for all ages. The corn maze did not seem handicap accessible but would be okay for a stroller, esp. an off-road type one. We easily spent 2 hours there before even going to the ice cream stand. There were 2 portapotties by the corn maze and activities which were not super clean but not disgusting.

My husband and I were looking for a fun, outdoor activity to get away from the kids for a day and found the Buttonwood Farm Corn Maze on line. It was a bit far from home, but we set out on our adventure and found the maze with no trouble at all. The young people working at the entrance were so friendly- they set a great tone for our day. We had forgotten to eat, so we were excited to see that they had hotdogs, sauerkraut, chips and drinks for a reasonable $5. There are many fun activities for little ones in addition to the maze. There was some confusion for us at the entrance- we ended up going in the out door at first- and there was no one there to correct us, but it was part of the fun. They had two activities- one was answering questions to help you find your way and the other was a series of letters- this one didn't quite work for us. We did manage to find our way out after about 35 minutes and headed off to the ice cream shop right around the corner. Although I thought the ice cream was a bit expensive, they did not skimp on the serving size, and the flavors (too many to count or remember) were amazing. We both had waffle cones- no trace was left to give away our snacking when we got home. Definitely worth the trip.

Took a Sunday drive especially to here as a destination, having read rave reviews of the ice cream. Sorry to say we were a bit disappointed. The chocolate silk was rather tasteless - not at all the flavor expected by true chocoholics. The setting however is lovely, it's a nice drive, and the corn maze looked great!

I enjoyed every moment of my visit to Buttonwood Farm. The sunflowers were spectacular and breathtaking! I felt like I was among Van Gogh's sunflowers in the Provence region of France. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the sunflowers against the beautiful blue sky. The hayride was a great experience too. You can feed the hungry cows hay at the first stop. At the second stop, the sunflowers brush up against the tractor and you are engulfed in a sea of these tall, bold plants. What a gorgeous panoramic view! After much picture-taking, it was time to try the famed Farm Fresh Ice Cream. One scoop of the rich and creamy strawberry cheesecake ice cream in a waffle cone was enormous and... absolutely delicious! My visit during the sunflower event was just wonderful and brought back memories of a visit to France many moons ago. Thanks so much, Buttonwood Farm!

We visited the farm to enjoy the sunflowers and to help raise money for the make a wish foundation buy purchasing sunflowers. A triple play win...gorgeous picture of lots of sunflowers, supporting a good cause AND enjoying some of the best ice cream around , not to mention the generous portions served. If you can't make it for festival fund raiser or to enjoy the sunflowers in bloom, definitely go for the ice cream.

Tried the sugar free Maple Walnut ice cream and it was decent but too dense. Nice wild flowers and cows on farm. We drove 40 miles to get here and we were not impressed. Pleasant place to visit if you are nearby not worth a long drive.

There is no doubt this is a beautiful experience when the sun flowers are in bloom and the ice cream is delicious. The problem is the people answering the phone number on the web site are less then honest. We called yesterday to ask the bloom status and were told "there are plenty of flowers in bloom". This proved to be an outright lie. We made the 90 minute drive expecting to enjoy the yellow fields and were greeted with what was probably less then 5% bloom. The fields were green. Far from the "plenty of color" we were promised. Shame on you Buttonwood Farm for your dishonest information. We will not be back.

We have frequented Buttonwood Farms for more than 15 years. It was a favorite gathering spot of our for many years and the ice cream was rich and creamy. The past four years the prices have gotten out of control. Tonight we made our second visit of the season (we used to go 2-3 x per week) and the ice cream is not only higher in price ($9.99 for a banana split, $8.99 for a sundae, $8/$9 for a waffle cone w/2 scoops. How does a 'family' afford to go out for ice cream at these prices? I have the money to spend and won't make this a frequent stop any longer because it 'hurts' too much to pay $46 for ICE CREAM. I will still go to the sunflower event as the 'give back' is well worth paying for. Hoping the owners work their prices back down so the 'regulars' will come back.

If you aren't frequenting Buttonwood Farms during the summer, you are missing out on the best ice cream available in Connecticut. The rich and creamy flavors will win you over. Expect to stand in line during the peak season, and the double lines of 20 or 30 people can be a reality. This homemade and top of the line ice cream is not cheap,, but if you are comfortable paying for the best, you belong here . I promise you, you will return again and again......

We go here every year and get ice cream at least once. It is a little expensive but a great once in a while summer treat and nothing like supporting local businesses :)

The Sunflower flavored ice cream is what i came back for! MMMmmmmm good! The tractor tour through the farm and sunflower fields was awesome. Great to see a crowd here and knowing that Make-A -Wish Foundation was benefitting from the sales here was nice. Located just off 395 in southeastern Connecticut.Nice place for all to visit. Especially for the kids.

was brought to Buttonwood by some family members for a quick ice cream cone. What a wonderful place! Clean, extremely friendly staff and some of the best ice cream I have ever had!!! Nothing fancy, but simple elegant style. Nice selection of flavors and options. My only regret was that I could not visit again before we had to leave.

Ice Cream is home made...very creamy with plenty of flavors. They have their normal flavors and always a listing of about 10 special flavors. We drive about an hour to get to Buttonwoods as it is one of my favorite places to have home made ice cream. The place is quaint and it right on the farm. There are usually long lines, but they move fast. The servers are friendly and accomodate my wife, who has a tree nut allergy, with out issue. I have also had their ice cream cakes, which they can customize with any flavor that your heart desires.

I say that with all the serious tone I can muster, I swear I was expecting Rod Sterling to come around the counter and wink....I approach the long line of ice cream lovers, screaming children, scoops and scoops piled high, whip cream.....yummy. Big boards full of flavor choices, what could be better than this. The line is moving nicely, I am next. In a moderate effort to never become obese ( and a quick glance around indicates that this is not a concern shared by my fellow line waiters) I size up the single scoop cup, it looks like more than enough, top that baby off with a little hot fudge and whip cream.......you have a little piece of Buttonwood Heaven right? Wrong...the conversation goes like this.....15 YO Girl----How can I help you? ME------can I please have one scoop of mint chip with hot fudge and whip cream......15YO Girl-----sorry we can't do that.....ME----Excuse Me.....15YO Girl-----we can not put both fudge and whip cream on your ice cream......ME---(I think my head tilts a little to one side at this point, not sure if I am hearing ok) what, why, what....15 YO Girl-----that is a Sunday and a Sunday comes with two scoops......ME-----but I only want one scoop, can I pay extra, can we put either the whip cream or the hot fudge on the side and I will make my own one scoop sunday?....15 YO Girl----- ( Totally Confused looking for upper management to make this executive decision) hang on. (consults with upper management who green lights the one scoop Sunday...) we can do that sir......ME------Thankyou......Now, for me going out for ice cream is a relaxing thing, I really do not want to deal with this again, it's unnessary and annoying, I was given my two cups one with ice cream and hot fudge, the other with whip cream, don't tell them but I dumped the whip cream right on top and the self made Sunday tasted great.......I got in my car, headed down the road reflecting on the conversation I had just had, was it real? Or did I just leave The Twilight Zone....
