Wonderful little Museum! The volunteers were so pleasant and knowledgeable about New Milford's history. I've been a few times and each time I learn something new. I love this little Museum!
Corsets, stays and bonesYou had to stand up straight in 18th century Connecticut because the bones or stays in your undergarments, boys and girls, rigidly held you up. This small, lovely museum has a variety of collections and exhibits on view that tell us about life as it was in New England. The museum is in a lovely brick building that includes the fabric shop once owned by Josiah Boardman, whose portrait in his shop is on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. The museum sits at the top of the New Milford Village Green, a lovely New England town that offers a Saturday farmer's market restaurants, a movie theater, ice cream shops and interesting boutiques. It's an easy town to walk with all day free parking behind the RR station. Open House for museum is June 14, 2014.
