avoca museum & historical society

I had my wedding at Avoca Museum on October 19th. They made the entire planning process so easy for me and my now husband. We lived out of town, but they would let us come see the place and ask questions whenever we needed too. the staff is very good at communication, and easy to work with. Mike would go above and beyond to help us out whenever we needed something. Avoca is a great place to have a wedding and I would totally recommend this place. The ground outside and the house are so breath taking, it is so beautiful!. People are still complementing me on the venue. The Avoca is an amazing place.

This place is awesome. This has tons of American history. Starts from the 1700's till today. The tour of the house was just perfect. Mike Hudson is truely knowledgeable on the complete history of the family and the house. Revolutionary and Civil war history abounds there. The last General of the South and Civil war that died lived there. His name was Brig. Gen. James Dearing. Please stop by and meet the fine people here and learn some of your own American history. Make sure you meet Teresa. She is awesome and knows her stuff.

My 8 year old daughter and I visited this incredible house and really enjoyed it. I had no idea this museum existed and I am so glad we found it. Audrey and Mike gave us a spectacular and personal tour with great information presented in a kid friendly way. The grounds and the gardens were beautiful with many things to see. We look forward to going back again very soon.

I directed my niece/nephew's wedding and reception at the Museum. It was an awesome spot and the staff was there for what we needed - but not underfoot. It's a beautiful place and well designed for weddings and other parties. I need to go back sometime to see the museum; I like the way they have so many things on display as if they were in actual use. Very impressed.
