Took my 6 yr old niece and she loved it. Lots of interactive things to do and play with. Definately recommend it!

While this wasn't the best science/children's center I've been to, it was enjoyable. It cost $14 for two adults and a child under 2, which isn't too bad for a morning of entertainment. I was a little disappointed that the bathroom upstairs didn't have a diaper changing station since this is a very child-focused center, but we did find one downstairs.I love the focus they have on watersheds and aquatic ecosystems. The center is definitely targeted more to elementary age students, but my 1.5 year old still had plenty of hands-on things to do, and my husband and I found it entertaining and informative as well. While I wouldn't make a trip just for this attraction, if you're in the area, I would recommend it!

This is a small science center with exhibits. It seemed to me that $18 for my kids and $14 for my wife an I was a little much for what we saw and did. It's a go-there-once-and-you've-seen-everything type of place.

I recently chaperoned a field trip to the Danville Science Center, and everyone loved it. The classroom time with the staff member who presented "the Big Chill" was great for students and very engaging. The butterfly house and hands on activities were enjoyable as well. We were able to watch the Flight of the Butterflies in the dome and it was wonderful as well! Chic Fil A catered lunch in for our group which was very convenient. The facility has several picnic tables for school groups to each lunch and they are under a shelter too. The old train station had many preserved animal & insect specimens that some children like to look at briefly. I highly recommend a trip there if you are in the area.

We spent about 2 hours here with our young children (ages 3-6). The museum is spread over two buildings (science center and train station). There are hands-on activities, a movie theatre and lots of animal specimen - quite a collection. Behind the train station, there is a butterfly garden. The city does a good job of drawing families in. The neat thing is that the Riverwalk is accessible from the Science Center - so if you felt like parking your car and walking/running a bit, it is a nice feature. In the summers, it looks like they have concerts/events as well.

Permanent exhibits include taxidermy, rocks/minerals, fun places to play. Current travelling exhibit space featured "From Here to There," an exploration of simple machines. Two "ball" stations, including a free play area with ramps, pulleys, etc., and "air tubes" for transport, held our kids' (ages 4 and 10 months) interests for a long time in this exhibit. Dome theater is reasonably priced and capable of detailed planetarium "sky shows." Beautiful facility includes active "old" train station, caboose to explore, nifty model train layout of Danville. Small gift shop with several reasonably-priced items for kids to buy but few logo items. Approximately 2 hours from Roanoke. Tables available for picnic lunches, indoors and out.

The 2 buildings offer natural science and great exhibitions and soon too : digital movies in our own Digital Dome. How exciting for us all who live here but also for those travelling through. The staff is eager to show you around. Just stop in and get a family membership to use all around the nation : great value and a well kept secret but hopefully not for much longer.

This place is a perfect place to take my 4 year old granddaughter. There are all kinds of kid friendly hands on exhibits and I have to drag her away most of the time. She wants to stay and visit with the butterflies or ride on the free hovercraft or play with the zillions of puppets. And the staff is the friendliest!

it is great for children 7 up to 13 or 14. It has several interactive features. My wife and I did enjoy some aspectsof this center, parking is adequate, and there is a train station with a stuffed animal museum next door.

I liked the butterfly garden they had and the music floor. That's all we got to thought. Oh but we also got to the animals area. There is a tiger there that according to my brother has "eyes that follow you when you move". Go there if you're in town though. It's really nice.

A great place to see in Danville. Great exhibits and different happenings during the year make this a must see place. The Butterfly Garden is fascinating. Highly recommend!!

Always have activities geared towards kids and family. My son always likes to see the polar bear and red caboose.

Great hands on exhibits and some great traditional/historical exhibits as well. Don't miss the Butterfly Garden - In season it is magical! Appeals to all ages from the youngest to the oldest. Right next to a walking trail along the Dan River.
