I had no real expectation of what this show was gonna be like before going other than thinking the title was funny and knowing it was a new musical with original songs. It was a bit of hike to drive out to Herndon from DC, but so worth it. This theater is hidden in this generic industrial park with pretty much no storefront at all, but once you get in it's a great setup. For this production, they had it set up cabaret style with tables and chairs facing a small stage. We got a signature hot drink from the bar called wth maple bourbon, apple cider and smores topping which was #$%ing delicious. The show was only 2 actors playing all the parts and a piano player. The music was delightful and catchy and the actors and the show was hilarious. Our table was laughing harder than the rest of the room at some of the 'edgier' humor, but I'm all about dead baby and world war II jokes. I had a much better time than I even expected to and would highly recommend this production and this theater.
I went to see "Sylvia" at Elden Street Players Theater (now called Next Stop Theater)...the venue is small with a sharp pitch to steps in the audience area so that all seats have excellent visibility - no worrying about tall people in front of you. The play, "Sylvia" was a riot, with a first rate cast and very reasonable ticket prices. Highly recommend this theater!
I've yet to be disappointed by a show at the Industrial Strength Theater. It's a tiny little community theater the is run with star quality.
They changed there name from Elden street since they became a professional theatre org. "Next something? Industrial Strength Theatre. It is a small 100 seat theatre tucked away in a strip mall in Herndon. Jim's show was the finale of their inaugural summer season. This guy is super talented and sounded very much like Niel Sedaka. Checkout "you tube". Jim has a continued professional relationship with Sedaka. The theatre was a very pleasant experience. They had a small refreshment area and adequate bathrooms for the sell out crowd. The seats were very comfortable and set up such that no one's view was blocked. This included about 6 small tables which were located on the side of the stage. The stage is a bit flimsy in construction with several boards slightly detached from the main support beams. I was a little concerned Jim would trip over one of the boards as he moved across the small stage. Great show in an intimate environment.
Great performances in a small venue. I like that the rows of seats are tiered because I am petite and a 6-footer with a hat usually sits right in front of me. Comfortable seats too.
We saw Last Hamm Standing a comedy group, but they also have plays and other events. I suggest buying tickets in advance, as this show was sold out and I am sure most do. The theater is small and this gives you the best up close experience you can get. The seats were comfortable and refreshments are sold. Only two bathrooms, so there was quiet a line during intermission and the lobby area is not very big, so it was crowded. Also, it is in the back of a shopping strip and our gps kept taking us passed it. Nice, cheap entertainment. GO
High quality productions in a small intimate theatre environment at reasonable prices. Plus a children's theatre.
Went with friends and small children to see Robin Hood - great interactive fun, kids encouraged to get involved with the 'players' and scenes.Small theater, so book tickets (online) or get their early.Definitely recommend
Thank you very much for your review! As you pointed out, we're very much looking forward to our upcoming expansion into "NextStop Theatre Company", the first major professional theatre company serving the entire Dulles Technology Corridor. However, please note--we will very much remain the same NON-PROFIT 501(c)3 Organization. Ticket sales cover only a portion of our operating costs, and we rely upon the generosity of our patrons to fulfill our mission. We look forward to seeing you at "The Seafarer" in March!
This theater and the play is like a pure diamond so brilliant and flawless!!! I was moved far beyong my expectations. Traveling the world for the past 15 years working as a full time artist and watching plays 2-3 times a month in NY, Paris, Saint Petersburg, Dresden and all over by world renowned actors and play writes it is so amazing to discover a new name and phenomenal production in a small setting of community theater in Herndon. This is the best that the world of art can offer and right at your finger tips. Please, come out and support your local theater and wonderful cast member and productions team. GIGANTIC THANK YOU to everyone involved!!! My experience was priceless and I will be back!!! Highly recommend to everyone!!!
We have been season subscribers for years. Elden Street is innovative in its offerings, and it is not afraid to take risks. The layout of the theatre is excellent--not a bad seat in the house. Parking can be cramped, but it is FREE. The ticket prices (especially for a season) are excellent.
Plays were so well done that I just bought a season subscription for myself along with two friends. Very professional productions
The theater is located in a warehouse in an industrial park off of Elden Street in Herndon. Seating is comfortable and for about 200, making for a closeness to the stage that escapes larger venues. We saw 'Hamlet' which is a major undertaking for larger theaters, let alone one this size. There is an opportunity for purchasing drinks and snacks at scheduled intermissions. If you like viewing plays in a cozy setting, this is the place.
Thank you for the great review! Our Theatre for Young Audiences program is a favorite past-time of ours. We're glad you found us, and we look forward to seeing you (and your kids!) at The Industrial Strength Theatre again soon!
Thanks for your review! We love pushing the envelope of what is possible to produce in our "intentionally small" (but comfortable) space. Over the years, people have told our directors and producers, "You can't fit that show in THERE!" and we delight in proving them wrong every time!
