It has both indoors and outdoors facilities. During summer this is wonderful place for a family get-together.During Winter one can arrange smaller parties ( 100 or less )
My spouse and I got tickets on line to avoid the wait. The tickets allow for timed entrances, so there is never a crowd. You walk through in about 30 minutes a wonderful display of lights - some on trees, but the best are the jumping fish in the "stream of blue/green" lights, the tunnel that changes colors and the bees buzzing around the beehive, and many birds, and other creatures. Fun for couples, families, friends. Can't wait for next year.
I lived in Vienna for over a year before I went to Meadowlark, and then I couldn't stop going back. It's the perfect size - about 100 acres - with wonderful little zones: a meadow, a lawn overlooking a pond, etc. I've been in every season except winter, and it's never overcrowded, always peaceful. If you're able to go mid-day during the work week, you can spend hours on one of the many benches enjoying different views. There's a hilly perimeter trail that runs about one mile (maybe 1/3 of the way around) where you can walk with a dog, and you can see much of the south side of the park along the way. And at $45/year for a membership for two people, it's one of the best deals out there. Highly, highly recommend IF you love gardens.
Visited Meadowlark over the years for a wedding and GW plants classes and always enjoyed this delightful botanical garden all year round, so I’ve been looking forward to checking out their Winter Walk of Lights for my 1st time.At first glance and based on other reviews, the price appeared high so I jumped online to check out my holiday light show options and discovered the $13.00 holiday price for each adult is quite fair, especially since Meadowlark is so close to me! Plus, they used LED lights which use less electricity and using less energy and burning less carbon is always a good thing from an environmental standpoint so they get “green” points from me!From the moment we pulled in between the 2 giant Christmas trees at the entrance to warming up at the large outdoor firepit, the various vignettes charmed and impressed us. Some serious planning went into this outdoor light display! A lovely river stream of twinkling blue and white lights filled with jumping colorful fish making water splashes became our hands down favorite. Frogs and turtle at stream’s edge plus a busy beaver finishing his dam upriver completed the enchanting aquatic vignette. Also soothing nature sounds added to the visual experience. Very creative! If they change it up next year, we’ll be sure to return.
From the Christmas Light Show to a simple afternoon in what passes for "wilderness" NVRPA-style in NOVA, this park is an absolute must!
The gardens are always a wonderful place to spend the day, especially in spring but all year round. It also has a first-rate party/wedding venue. And the Winter Walk Light display is fabulous. I love supporting, and enjoying, this local treasure.
Our family has decided to make this our new family tradition. What a beautiful sight to see. Can't wait to see it again next year.
Something for the whole family to enjoy. I'm a sucker for anything with Christmas lights but this was amazing
We visited the Meadowlark Christmas walk of lights last week with my family and we all had a fun night. Of all of the light shows and Christmas locations with decor they do meet their expectations in my view. I guess I can understand people that are at Disney or some other huge attraction that might be spoiled but for a local event they hold water for sure. So they have 500,000 lights, a gift shop and hot chocolate, popcorn, hot cider and marshmallows for toasting at the end of the walk. Fun times for all of us, if you live in the area its a fun family night out.
The holiday light display was a fun family excursion after work. I thought the cost was slightly high for a walk around the park but it was fun. You can also buy marshmallows and roast over a fire at the end of the walk.
Depart from the hustle and bustle of city life and the metro madness with delightful walks in one of the best kept gardens in the Washington DC area. There is nothing to dislike about the gardens. Experience the delights of nature - even with wintertime walks.
Meadowlark Park is a beautiful botanical Park with acres of well designed horticultural Gardens to large man-made lakes, a new Korean garden and lots of Canadian geese. It is a relaxing peaceful setting that his fun to visit during any season. Recently, they started doing a Christmas decorated light exposition that was beautiful and well done. It is less than 2 miles from her home and we visit there several times a year. Of course spring and summer have magnificent flowers and in the fall the Foliage is wonderful.
So beautiful! You can stroll along and even bring the kids. A show for everyone to enjoy. And, in the Spring, the cherry blossoms are a sight to see. We look forward to this every year. What a beautiful park!
I love these gardens... they are a great place to go to for a nice, quiet stroll. I wish though they had an annual membership! We go there more than once a year, so we would be open to becoming members.
Last night, it was cold cold in northern Virginia - a perfect night to get in the holiday mood. I went to tour the Meadowlark Botanical Garden's Winter Walk of Lights in Vienna, Virginia. It was my first time - and it was lovely. The lights sparkle, amuse, and delight. There are frogs that hop, hop, and splash. A flower garden made of lights. Trees wrapped tall and high with lights. Their classic lake gazebo could be seen quietly from afar outlined in holiday lights. A father and daughter stopped at a little hut with fun items to purchase and he bought her a little star wand that lit up and sparkled. Towards the end of the walk, there was a large fire pit and a little place where you could buy smores makings, or some hot apple cider. If you are looking for something for all family members to do together during the holiday season, this gets you on your feet for a leisurely stroll through beauty. It's open every night now through January 4th and you can buy tickets online.
