This outfitter offers two New River canoe or kayak trips -- 4 or 8 miles -- from upstream down to the outfitter location. No waiting for a pickup! Our campground host called for us, and the outfitter was waiting for us when we arrived. He firsts showed us where we would take out, and then took us to the put-in point. Kayaks and equipment were clean and in good condition. Not many places to "take out" for lunch here, so ask or be prepared to just pull over and eat in your boats. Very nice float -- could be a bit slow if the water is low. The take-out is a great place to relax and splash in the water to cool off.

HI MY NAME IS DEAN FROM GREENSBORO NC , I have used riverside 6 times in 2008 and had a great trip each time. the fishing is great and the views are worth the trip. i plan on doing the 8.5 mile stretch as soon a spring arrives . my sone and i enjoyed it greatly. Allen is great to use for unguided trips and very easy to work with. Riverside is eady to get to from anywhere.

This is a wonderful place to go canoeing - very reasonable too. We had the owner drop us off about 8 miles down the river with the canoe, and then we paddled/floated back down the river to near his store. It was a 4hr trip, they also have shorter trips. For an easy and beautiful canoeing trip, I highly recommend this place. The water was shallow at parts, we occasionally got stuck on rocks, but it was easy to get off of them.
