The quilt show is always well organized and the meal provided by and catered by the attached Hampton Suites is always outstanding.
It was great again this year, all the cosplays and the friendly people and staff. I enjoyed myself immensely.
It's a very old venue, it's musty and while the view from seats is not bad, being a local this is my last choice of venues in the area to attend for concerts etc.
My first experience at the Hampton Coliseum was March 17, 1984. This huge place holds so much history for the Hampton Roads area. Everything from big name music acts, to the Harlem Globe Trotters, to Cirque Di Soliel, and any other entertainment you can imagine. The acoustics inside are amazing for sound! I have seen the ins and outs of this enormous building, from the audience, from backstage, and from the walk-around balcony outside. I've never seen renovations happening, personally, but the place is still just as solid and nice as it was back then. Well maintained, I guess. You are easily able to find your way around inside. If you get a chance to see an event here, it's recommended.
Went to the Festival of Praise. Concert was awesome with Donnie McClurkin and Fred Hammond and a few other singers. Our seats were great since we had floor seats, middle section up close. Earlier this year, we were there for Tamala Mann show, floor seats, middle section up closer. The only drawback with sitting so close is the higher stage lights practically blind you, especially when changing colors. Few years back was there for Jazz Festival. Music was great, seating was terrible. So it's either put up with the lights or change seating plan. We rather put up with the lights.
Had a wonderful time at the Pet Expo and the location was easy to find and well laid out! There was plenty of parking, and it was located near a lot of fantastic restaurants and parks.
I love the speed of the ushers, location, atmosphere of joy, parking and great establishment!!! I will go again to see something else.
I liked he Friday night segment that featured Charlie Wilson and the entire Saturday night line up.I was not impressed with my seats on Friday night, however, the seating on Saturday night more than compensated for the Friday night experience. I would suggest that tickets be purchased and seats be selected as soon as the event is announced.
I am not an expert on this, but I do not think that the Hampton Coliseum is the best for a music venue. I know that they have had hundreds there over the years and I've been to a couple, but I'm not sure that it was designed for that purpose.
The facility is old, a little run down. The air conditioning in the halls was non-existent so the place was muggy.
For the prices charged for events these days, it should be criminal for this 1970's dump to still be open!!! From the horrible traffic control in and out, the crumbling parking lots, to the nasty bathrooms and concourse areas, it's out lived itself!!!
Great turnout for models. Most people were friendly and pleasant, however there were many who were arrogant and self centered and rude.

Toni Braxton welcome back you are gorgeous and sound great. David Koz the summer horns group is fantastic going out to get the cd today. What a great show
