Take the blue line to Alexandria, walk away from the noise. Take a tour of the memorial, regardless of your affiliation with Masonry. Make sure you take the ride to the top, you will get the unobstructed 360 view of the capitol.Bring a coat as it will get cool up there.Make sure you take a picture of the manicured front lawn.

A somewhat disorganized self guided tour will have you wandering about this old building, you have to know about the observation platform at the top of the tower, there are no signs for the elevator. Some of Geo. Washington's possesions are there, if you wander into the right room you can see them.

This is an inexpensive, historical place to visit. The city views are fantastic. Conveniently located near the King Street Metro. A great place to take family and friends. Not recommended for young children.

Conveniently located near the King Street Metro station in Old Town Alexandria, the George Washington Masonic National Memorial is definitely worth a visit. This memorial is filled with information about our nation's history that would tweak any interest and perhaps answer questions about many of the symbols we find in our culture today.Be sure to visit the theater: An amphitheater style concert venue with wonderful acoustics and a curtain drawn stage with grand piano and pipe organ.Theater also contains a gallery of all U.S. Presidents that held memberships with the Masons. There is ample parking on site.

I visited the site with my Uncle Bill when I was a teenager, but decided to return as I began the process of becomming a Mason. The trip on the subway was well worth the effort. The site is beautifully maintained and staffed with very welcoming folks. When I mentioned that I wanted to see the York Rite floor, which was not on the standard tour, the guide provided me with access. Overall a very fun adventure. I only wish I would have been able to have lunch somewhere on-site to stay longer and enjoy the amazing views.

This memorial is located on Shuter's hill. The view of King Street, especially in the evening or at night provides a spectacular view of King Street. To accomdate the buildings design, the elevators run on an angle.

I was a bit disappointed. There us a lot of stuff about the masons, and I didn't care. I had hoped for more historical connections. If you're a mason, you might enjoy it. The facility itself is cool.

This is a well appointed history of masonry in the new world. I enjoyed the connections of Washington and other founders of our democracy.

Worth a quick visit for any history buff. Off the end of King Street and close to historical Alexandria. Makes for a nice picture at night.

This is a beautiful spot at the head of the Old Town Alexandria strip - nice for a picnic or a tour. A cool stop for out-of-towners as well, walking distance from the Amtrak and Metro stations.

Attended a wedding and was very impressed. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgable. The facility is gorgeous and the view at the top is amazing. Have been to DC many times and never stopped by. Would recommend.

If you are in the Washington, DC area, or, especially if you are in Alexandria itself, you really should stop here to visit. It is replete with history of not only the Masons, but some of our nation's early times and leaders (many of whom were Masons). There is no charge, but you need to check for times to visit. It is a short walk from the Metro station, although uphill. If driving, the parking is plentiful and free.

Dud not go inside, but passed by twice when the monument was lit. It is impressive, but in a 1930s WPA style, not pretty but hulking pile, Would not have been out of place in Berlin or Moscow at the same period.

If any of you history buffs are planning to learn more about our great country's history, then this would be a place to visit and enjoy.
