Medina river was beautiful shade of green. Very clean park area and we caught one bass fish while we were there!
Bandera has a diamond in the rough with their Medina River. The park isn't developed as other parks however the river is beautiful. We enjoyed walking along the river bank and watching the ducks and fish. No entrance fee.
The river is gorgeous and there is a lovely riverside park where you can walk with your kids and dogs. Very photogenic.
While the Medina river valley is pretty (I live on the "river") there is no water in the "river". Some day, perhaps, there will be water and it will be a great place....again.
Took my husband fishing. the only down fall is the restrooms are far and if ya need to go you need to drive their otherwise its nice. Ducks and Birds makes it nice.
Just got back from a swim, since the latest rainfall the water is sitting at just about 7' in some places nice little swim up the river followed by drying off in the sun with a snow cone had a nice time. Will be hitting up this spot for a little fun in the sun again tomorrow.
I love swimming in the river, but lately because of the drought it is not as safe and sometimes it is closed due to bad water during the drought and the water not running, It is a great place to do a day picnic and hanging with friends. Several times a year events take place at the city park, which is right next to the river.
It was really dry last year when I visited bandera. Most of the rivers have no water except this river, Medina river. I stop for a while and got down the river. The water is cool and clean.
There is a little park/picnic just outside the town of Bandera, where you can park and have a little picnic or just walk along the Medina River and enjoy the nice. quiet and beautiful scenery.
The Medina River, especially in Bandera City Park, is a great resource for Natives and visitors. You can float, swim, or just enjoy under huge shade trees all along the bank. Tube, kayak, & canoe rentals are available up stream of the Park. Wonderful setting for family gatherings. If you need a cool & relaxing place while in Bandera, check out the Medina River.
We have been here alot. My kids love the rope swings. You do take risk in own hands by swinging on them. It's a great place to lounge in the cool water. If you jump straight off the platform at the top of the rope swing, when you land in the water, you will be bruised because it's so high in the air. The swing is fun but gives me blisters so jumping off the platform is way more fun. I'm the only one who screams which is embarrassing!! The only time we left is when drunk people who cuss up a storm come down there. That ruins everything. Hoodlums!!
When the water is up, you can't beat this river. So much better than the Guadalupe. And there are so many places to enjoy it, especially near some of the bridges, The water is so clear and never trashed like other places.
Looks like a delightful place to swim in the not summer months. I noticed a ladder up a tree with a nice long rope for swinging and plunging into the river.
During Christmas week there is a live nativity plan at the river on night. And a gathering of the town's people
river was low, couldn't put boat in water didn't look like a place I would want to go to for swimming or recreation
