Cibolo Nature Center is really nice with many opportunities to view birds and deer. The trails are nice and manageable for all ages. Also, a fun place for geocashing. We had a great time.
Our family visited the center three times during the month of October. My children love it (my son even requested that we have his birthday party there). We spend most of our time on the creek or climbing the tower and trees. Admission is free and the staff is very helpful.
The Cibolo Nature Center offers opportunities to learn about the wonders of Mother Nature, to experience serenity while walking any one of their nature trails and to be entertained at one of their summer outdoor concerts. Who could ask for anything more?
My wife and I visited this nature reserve on a sunny November morning. We followed a path above a creek. We were pleased to find some benches where we could enjoy the sunshine. We walked back along the creek edge - it was tricky in places and would not suit visitors with restricted mobility. We also walked around a grassland area - this was not so interesting as the flora and fauna were less varied. There were clean restrooms and a visitors centre to provide information and literature. I would recommend a visit of a couple of hors if you are in the area.
If you like to hike or take your dog for a walk this is a wonderful trail along the Cibolo creek. I highly recommend it. I've not actually been to the nature center itself.
What a great find - if you get to San Antonio, it's worth the short drive northwest to Boerne to visit the Cibolo Nature Center. There is always something happening there from children and adults educational programs and children's library to their concert series, wildlife field research and the very popular Herff Farm Farmer's Market 8:30 to 12:30 every Saturday from March through December.
loved the beauty and quiet of the cypress grove along the river, the family area and nature observation platform would be a grat place for a large group or family picnic.
Quiet, natural, peaceful. All the things you want in a Nature Center. Walked the trails many of times. While not completely rural, you get the country feeling. Take along something to drink and have a lovely walk. : )
Boerne has a hidden natural oasis with trails, river crossings, running and biking trails, and a little bit of wild life, bugs and butterflies, etc. A local spot that you really should not miss. Great place to take a stroll, walk your dog, or your wife. :)
Great trails along the creek with old, huge cypress. Also nice boardwalk through marsh by spring. Lots of birds. Excellent visitor center.
The Cibolo Nature Center is a great little getaway! I've been to many parks in Texas and this one did not disappoint. It was easy to find, parking was great and there was lots to do. I hiked around for an hour or so and walking along the stream was really nice. Quiet, peaceful and a great way to start the weekend. I went on a Saturday morning and was one of the few there. When I left there were other cars but I didn't see anyone around because there are a few different trails. Will return!
We spent a quiet couple hours here walking and enjoying the birdsong. Followed the slow moving creek and took some nice pics. Kids there for Ed programs. Very nice lady at the nature center, but not much to help us understand the geology or ecology of the area. Very difficult to find. Make your way to the city park and keep going past.
On a day trip to Boerne, this was our first stop. The natural grasses and towering Cedars in Cibolo Creek are enchanting. There is a wonderful path along the creek great for all members of your family except the elderly or very young. This is because of rocky and tree root laden terrain but that was the fun. There are also some flat grassy routes as well as marsh lands. The only fault for the preserve is the lack of signage. There really isn't any other than for the main 'trail head' sign. You can easily spend a couple of hours here. Enjoy.
A nice place to stroll through several different types of landscape. There is a boardwalk over the swamp land (when it's wet), the prairie with native grasses and the creek, lined with cypress trees, makes a great picnic area. Nice for small kids too.
Cibolo Nature Center was absolutely beautiful! I didn't get to do a lot of exploring but the wedding I went to there was so pretty! I would have liked to have done some exploring as the Nature Center is also a Monarch Butterfly research area. If you are looking for an outdoor venue in the Texas Hill Country, look no further!
