The cool thing about this course is playing holes that simulate what the big boys have played. It's just disappointing that the course isn't in better shape. Had not played the course in a couple years but it doesn't seem to have improved much in that time. Granted, I played in early February so things were pretty brown but the general condition of the fairways/greens were still in worse condition than several other courses in the area that I've played recently and for less money.
It could be that winter has set in on the course, but I must admit, I was disappointed in the greens. I would expect much more for the price. The course remains a challenge and is great to play. I'll be back in the spring to see how the course has recovered.
The idea for the course is different. I have to admit that playing some of the worlds most famous holes is interesting. Oh, and I shot par on Amen's corner! The course condition is slightly below average with no signs of any work or maintenance being done. Some greens were challenged as we as challenging.Worth the stop if you get a deal. Dont pay full price.
The course seemed to be much improved in quality since I last played it 2 years ago. It had fallen into disrepair but it seems the ownership is investing the money to improve the cpurse, the clubhouse, and the overall customer experience.
The original Tour 18 was a truly fantastic course with a great layout. Now with several financial issues over the past 10 years the course is just a shadow of the past. Their greens remain a major issue and the overall condition of the course is fair at best. When you pay PREMIUM prices you should expect MUCH more. Very sad.
The course is in extremely bad shape. I personally believe it should be un-playable until fixed. Very disappointing.
Nice drive up appeal but that's where it ends! Ownership should be ashamed for letting this course go down! Not worth the time or money, even at $49! Course is in horrible shape, greens, bunkers, fairways worse I have seen in the metroplex! 5 1/2 hour round to go along with bad conditions does not make for a very good golf experience!
First off, the course conditions are "normal". Not spectacular. Normal. That said, the layout is (obviously) spectacular. So, for a $99 green fee it's extremely overpriced. I've played many courses in *much* better shape. But we paid $45 for a weekend rate, which is cheaper than some municipals, so at that rate it's a ridiculous deal. It's an extremely fun course with average to below average conditions depending on how much you paid. $45-75? Great deal. $79-99: overpriced and under-conditioned.
Nice fairways. Greens in bad shape. Interesting to play the famous holes of golf legends. Surrounding homes are amazing and huge! We were there on a very hot day and there was no beverage cart. Bathrooms lacked toilets! Staff friendly, but disappointing when I had thought this was going to be classy place. Cowboys is much better as well as the other municiple courses in the area ie Grapevine.
This was my 2nd visit this year. First one was rained out. They gave me $25 rain check after being rained out after finishing 9 holes. The greens were in much better shape. It is still one of the challenging courses that I have played, and I still enjoy being out there. The staffs are very nice and courteous.
I like Tour 18 a lot. It's challenging to play those tough championship holes. I've been here many times and it seems to have slipped a little bit though. The greens were not what they were a few years back. We had numerous putts where the balls were hopping due to poor greens. I'm no expert for sure but the last years heat wave hurt the greens and drought this year isn't helping here either. Just seems they have cut way back on staff here and it shows in the upkeep.
Was cool playing this course of all the famous holes. very challenging course but a great experience. Would love to play some of these real courses at some point! If you are a golfer check it out!
Might take you some time to get there, but this is something you have to play if you are in the area. 18 holes designed to look like some of the most famous holes in the US, including "Amen Corner," and the island green from Sawgrass, which is set right by the club house so everyone can watch your ball roll off into the pond. I usually play once a year if I get an idealgolfer.com coupon as it is $95 on the weekends, but $20 cheaper in the winter time (in Texas, you might get lucky and score a day in the 60's). I like to look at the expensive home around the course, and assume that the owners have huge debt issues. My favorite hole is the par-3 #12, inspired by #6 at Riviera, complete with the bunker on the green. Play it once, and I am sure you will want to play it again.
This was fun course with good service and friendly people. Bring your golf equipment be ready to enjoy a pleasant course. The greens were fast and true, and views were beautiful.
A little on the pricey side but well worth it if you want to play many famous holes. The only compariable course of this magnitude would be The Tribute but even at that they are different.Spend the extra bucks or grab a hot deal off Golf Now and try Tour 18. Friendly staff for sure. A couple of holes were overwatered in the fairway...but this is Texas in the summer time so its give and take. And yes, the holes are different at the one in Houston
