This was my wife's idea, and it was a great one. We went here to see the Diviners and it was a wonderful play. There were students and faculty involved from Odessa College. The seat were pretty comfortable and the environment was pleasurable.

The globe is just good. Loads of talent and amazing directors. Good sets and always a good time. I disliked nothing and liked everything and will go again next time Jane Moore or Carl Berry Moore direct.

If you love the theater the tour is a must. Be sure to plan on seeing a play also. No umbrellas allowed so bring your rain jacket.

Yes it's been a while since I've been to this theatre but even with that it is a fun place to visit! They recreated the globe theatre like the one in England only to a smaller scale and has a roof instead of out side. I have been to see many performances there over the 27 years I've been here in Odessa. It is built in almost a round with several different areas for actors to enter and exit from while bringing them close to the audience! Years ago I performed in several shows there, mostly musicals. It was always a fun place to be as an actor or singer. It is a small stage but that is also one of the endearing things about it. For those new to the area, the Globe is one of 5-6 live theaters in the Permian Basin and the actor, singers, dancers are all volunteers! So yes there maybe some f the actors that are rough around the edges but there is so much talent in this area! We are not like the big theaters in other parts of the USA but given that we are doing it for free its pretty good entertainment! Back to the Globe of the Southwest, they have times when they do a Shakespearian play or two. They also have an opera that the musical majors at Odessa College do once a year that is usually wonderful. So for not a lot of money, you can treat yourself to a live performance and support one of the local community theaters.

Well I've only recently even seen this hidden gem..I find it very comfortable and not at all pretentious. No rich snobs here just felt right at home when watching a great play.................................

Every community theater has their schedule of performances that they produce each year or season. The Globe Theatre has had exceptional performances in the past because they have strived for quality. At this time of late Spring, I would suggest contacting the theatre staff or check their website for performances. The Globe Theater is worth driving to the Odessa College campus and finding the facility along the South side of the campus. Along with the Anne Hathaway Cottage and gardens, the enclosed complex is a joy to view. The cast iron entry gates control access to the grounds so plan ahead and contact the staff to gain access for a self or guided tour if possible. I think you would be disappointed if you miss the opportunity to view this one of a kind facility while in Odessa. (And, I hope that you can catch a performance)

I have attended a handful of performances here over the past decade, and each one was well produced and thoroughly enjoyable. We were a little sad to find the garden labyrinth missing the last time we visited. There is a replica of the Anne Hathaway cottage on site, and the theatre itself is quite nice. Most attendees come in business or business casual attire, but you'd be comfortable in jeans as well.

Thank you for your review. We have an array of things happening at The Globe. We are currently underway on our 2013 Season. We invite you to join us any time in the future!

The Globe is a dusty little theater tucked on the dark southern edge of Odessa College. It is supposed to be a replica of the original Globe of England, I believe. It has a rose garden, and a cottage house a few steps from the theater. It is not high tech, bells and whistles, but we really enjoyed our visit. For $10 each we saw a play called DOUBT, We didn't expect much from a group of non professional local actors, but we were amazed! From the moment the lights dimmed I was spellbound. The music, the mininimal sets, costumes and Broadway caliber actors made for a magical evening. If you are lucky as we were, there was a gathering at the cottage after the show. We were FED and given a tour. The people are so friendly, and gracious. We had a really nice time.
