Used to attend "Eeyore's birthday party here back in the late70's. The girls still remember it! Round Top is a cool little town. Also, they have live Shakespeare there, too. Would love to go back :)

Red and White quilts and vintage fabrics chosen from the University of Texas Quilt Collection are on display from Feb. 10 to Feb. 23. Don't miss it.

I attended the German-Texan Society Conference here. It is a nice, country setting not far out of Round Top, TX. We were able to run out to see the Nassau Plantation easily and it is close to Frelsburg, TX and other historical areas. Peter Pieper and his son, my ancestor Anton Pieper had much history nearby.

I watched a performance by University of Texas students of "Comedy of Errors" by William Shakespeare at the barn in Winedale. Lucille Ball must have stolen most of her comedy routines from Shakespeare. The plays and the venue are worth a little exploration to find "Winedale. Tickets at $10 for non students and can be purchased at http://www.utexas.edu/cola/progs/winedale/Performances-And-Tickets/The-Plays.php. The Texas drawl of the students renders Shakespeare more understandable. Before of after the plays be sure to stop at Royers Café for fine cuisine and awesome pies.

This property is only a mile away from our Trails West Retreat cabin rentals so we know it very well. At various times of the year, different events take place here. They open the historical buildings to visitors and docents dressed in period clothing tell the stories of the area which was donated by Miss Ima Hogg, daughter of the Governor of Texas. The Complex is owned by the University of Texas. An Herbal forum is held once a year and also a quilt exhibit. During the summer, UT students perform Shakespeare plays in an outdoor theatre barn. What amazes me is that one of the most important sites not to miss in the Round Top area is Festival Hill. Here worldclass concerts are held regularly on a 200 acre facility with gardens and a remarkable concert hall. I could go on for paragraphs about Festival Hill but you can visit their website at www.festivalhill.orgCheck out the website on Winedale at: http://www.cah.utexas.edu/museums/winedale.phpNearby cabins are available at www.bettystrails.com
