My boyfriend and I are from Brazil. We were driving from Amarillo to Dallas and wanted to have lunch in Shamrock. We couldn't access internet, so we stopped at the Visitors Center at U-Drop Inn Café. There, a very kind laid presented the town to us. She told us about the history of Shamrock and showed an album with many restaurants' menus and directions. It was well worth visiting and we were amazed by the nice staff we met there.

U-drop Inn on Route 66 is a great piece of nostalgia. The people there are knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. They know a lot of the area's history and are worldly themselves. One of the ladies there even worked on a cotton farm when she was young. They have some cute things for kids too. The building was in the movie Cars. The articture of the building is nicely maintained and restored. The old gas pumps are fun to see ($0.09 per gallon).

Due to lack of signage, we almost missed this icon of old route 66. This station was a mainstay of Shamrock, Texas in the pre-Interstate 40 days. The attached U Drop Inn with gift shop and tour of the old cafe was priceless. Miss Hazel was an exceptional hostess. She even fixed me a delicious cup of coffee. It was like a trip back in time. We were made to feel like family.
