Also known as Kalos Farms. Google them and see all the dissatisfied customers. I purchased a Groupon October 2013 and have not received my purchase. Every time I contact David he is very apologetic and swears the order is coming. I contacted Groupon who also has had no success in reaching the company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this place.

We purchased out first trail ride in 2012. They had an EXCELLENT trail boss, Scott! He was attentive to riders, we had fun, the food was great. So, when the opportunity to purchase vouchers again, I jumped at the chance. However, every time I tried to book a ride, they claimed to be all booked up. However, they claimed they will honor the vouchers, and to keep calling back. I have now called 6 times, with the last 2 calls go unanswered, and no return call. I have found out the Scott is no longer with Sleepy Sheep Ranch, and that is probably why I see such bad reviews. BEWARE...They string you along with thinking that they will honor your voucher, until so much time has passed that the probability of getting a refund from your credit card company is zero.

I was one of hundreds who fell for a groupon offering discounted organic grass-fed lamb from this place. I am one of hundreds from across the country who have been waiting through at least a year (since the offer was posted about May 2013) of excuse after excuse from the owner, Mr. David Mitchell, ranging from "we'll get it out in the next two weeks," to the latest and perhaps most laughable, "the computer hard drive crashed, please send me your address" Still nothing. Read other less-than-zero reviews at Yelp.com and ripoffreport.com. His website has just disappeared as well. The "country store" it advertised? Googled the address. it was a vacant dusty empty lot next to a boarded up building. Selling and collecting revenue across state lines--apparently with no intent to provide the services paid for--is apparently a hallmark of SSR, which probably doesn't exist anymore. Next time I'll buy my lamb locally. What a total rip-off. Apparently Texas law enforcement doesn't want to do anything about it either. I thought all Texans respected the law, were God-fearing, and respected the flag and American values. Apparently not.

We placed an order for lamb with Sleepy Sheep back in September 2013. After numerous phone calls and emails from David promising that our order was "about to ship" and they were "working very hard", nothing has come, and communication has ceased. I'm forced to conclude that David is a scam artist and that nothing, including a refund for our purchase, is forthcoming. Be aware and DO NOT spend a penny of your money on this ripoff of a non-existent business. I almost never leave bad reviews but this has forced me to. Look around on Trip Advisor or Google, you'll see many other people with the same complaint. Don't fall for the same scam.

I placed an order via a Groupon deail in May 2013. After six months of inquiry with repeated "we will be shipping your order in the next 3 weeks" with no delivery I finally got Groupon to refund my deal. However, on Aug. 16 I did pay the $25 shipping fee, believing they really meant to shop the product. In Nov. I got the Groupon refund and requested the $25 shipping fee be refunded by Sleepy Sheep Ranch. The Ranch is now not corresponding with me at all. Paypal won't refund as they say I need to work it out with the provider so now I'm out $25, have no lamb meet, and had a terrible experience. I can understand a small business getting overwhelmed but stringing the customer along, not responding to emails and NOT honoring a refund request for lack of product shipment is unforgivable.

The Better Business Bureau gave this company a big fat "F".This is what happens when businesses have no regulations. Sleepy Sheep Ranch continues to put out ads on the internet offering lamb and mutton for purchase, but there is no way to contact the business. You can send an e-mail, and you'd be lucky to get an automated response when the business feels like returning one to you. You can also try calling, but good luck with that too. You'd also be one of the extremely lucky ones that actually get your order delivered. When you do get it delivered, it's already spoiled, either due to improper packaging or not being sent in a timely manner, and it already costs you additional shipping charges. If a business was regulated, this company would not be allowed to continue selling promises on the internet they apparently cannot, or do not, want to keep. If this business was regulated they would be forced to comply and provide the services people expect, like getting their order delivered. If they won't comply, then regulation would prevent them from continuing to put out ads for products they cannot deliver on.Because there is no regulation, this business does not care and continues to take people's money.I don't care how nice you think their horse rides are. You can easily find another business that provides better experiences then this company. When I hear that this company serves Wal-Mart cake, what does that say regarding the hard-earned money you pay to Sleepy Sheep Ranch?

Ok folks this is my second time to give Sleepy Sheep Ranch Trail Rides a try and I HIGHLY recommend it! The first time an unfortunate accident happened (my friend fell off her horse and ended up with broken ribs). But she's FINE now and looking forward to coming back to the ranch to FINISH what she started as soon the weather cools off!Since my first visit the operating and safety procedures are laser focused (riders were matached with horses based on their riding experience, everyone was taught the basics of riding, and trail ride staff were experienced, mature and responsible employees). Today the weather was perfect, the trailboss was fantasic (very horse savvy and safety conscious), a great grill master (the steaks were YUMMY), and the group I had the pleasure of riding with and getting to know was truly a pleasure. I made a few friends I am sure I'll keep in touch with for a lifetime. Fun and interesting group!I hope you visit Sleepy Sheep Ranch sometime very soon. In fact, they have Halloween Trail Rides, and a brand new Bed & Breakfast venue coming soon.

Sleepy Sheep Ranch may be okay for horseback riding, just don't purchase any meat. The company does not honor it's commitments or provide customer service. I place an order for a rack of lamb on May 27, 2013. Sleepy Sheep Ranch printed a UPS tracking label on June 17, 2013 with an expected delivery date of June 21, 2013. The rack of lamb did not arrive. SSR would not return phone calls or emails and often their voice mail box was full. The process continued of me calling and writing emails and SSR not responding until July 16, 2013, when I received a one sentence email indicating my meat would be delivered on July 19, 2013. The meat was finally delivered on July 19, 2013 via UPS ground from Texas to New Hampshire. The three bags of dry ice were empty, the shrink wrap around the rack of lamb had been compromised, there was blood in the container and the meat was hot to the touch. SSR continued to ignore my phone calls, emails and voice mails from July 19, 2013 to July 22, 2013. On July 22, 2013, at 9:37 a.m. I received an email from David Mitchell indicated he would call me "real quick". Well "real quick" hasn't happened yet, and it's July 24, 2013 at 6:57 p.m. I initiated a dispute through PayPal, and David has agreed only to refund the $ 28.95 for shipping I was able to dispute through PayPal. SSR has not refunded the $ 39 I paid through Living Social and will be the beneficiary of a $ 108.50 damaged goods claim I made to UPS. Should start by saying we just visited big bend national park in march and did some amazing horse rides and we had to drive 5 hours from Houston to get here. Not much in way of intro or instruction if this was your first time on a horse might be intimidating. Ride out into woods and eat by a large pond. Some pretty woods. Dinner was a tiny salad, some grapes, a small serving of good brisket and a slice of Walmart cake. Maybe worth the trip from somewhere close like Dallas but we wouldn't come this far again to do it. We did it with discount voucher but wouldn't be worth full price of about $100 per person. Be sure to bring water and a small backpack.

The ride begins at a rustic little farmhouse. We had a medium size group of 6. It is good family entertainment but I think it is best suited for kids 11 yoa or older. The horses are gentle. The steak dinner was good. The faculty were helpful and entertaining. We enjoyed the wine tasting also. I saw that one unfortunate incident occurred in the past. It appears to me that the owner has dealt with those issues. My wife and two grandkids had a wonderful time. We will be going back again.

The ride was amazing. We had a ton of fun herding long horns and going on the trail ride. The guides were helpful and we were matched with the horses we could handle. You have to remember that horses are not machines and are thinking animals. If you can't accept that it isn't completly safe then this isn't for you. If you can then i would totally recommend this place

Sleepy sheep ranch was honestly one of the best horse riding experiences I've ever had. All the people were paired with horses that met their experience, as I have been riding for seven years, I got to ride one of the hand's horses. We got to round up the cattle and direct them twice, being very efficient the first time. After a short break, we went on our trail ride to the lunch site, which was delicious and gorgeous!!! The whole thing was just perfect, and the trail guides were perfect.

I’ve written BECAUSE, I CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY AND THAT OF YOUR CHILDREN!The story begins: The Owner has a 17 yr. old as the "trail guide," who just started a month ago. He has obviously not had ANY INSTRUCTION or TRAINING to do these rides. I was in a group of 10 customer riders. There was a Dad with his precious 4 yo daughter in the front of the saddle with him, his wife and their 6 yo son sitting in front of her, a young couple, two other women and my grandson and myself. One of the ladies and I were obviously, the only ones that knew how to ride, or knew horses, the other riders were first timers, other than my grandson, who was riding for the 2nd time in his life. The ride was an hour and a half late starting.First off, we were just beginning to ride down the trail and there was a small lake. The guide paired off with the woman who knew how to ride, left the rest of us, and told us, “if we wanted to “SWIM” our horses across the lake, follow him! The 6 yr. old boy wanted his Mom to go through the lake. She told her husband they were going to follow the guide. By the way, for a group this size, there needs to be someone up front guiding, and someone behind, to assure safety for everyone! Before the Mom could turn her horse around, I asked her to please reconsider. A horse is a horse. It has a mind of it’s own. While walking through the lake, it could stop, start pawing at the water, and the unsuspecting rider who “KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT HORSES” could find themselves in the lake, when the horse goes down to ROLL! Can you imagine what could happen if the son did not know how to swim? Or the Mom’s foot was caught in the stirrup and her son was drowning. Listen people, this is reality. This could have happened. These horses had already been on one ride, and that water could have felt really good to them! After going through the water, this young guide took off with the other lady that evidently knew how to ride and wanted to RUN her horse., not gallop, but dead run. None of the rest of us had any warning they were going to take off. Thank the Lord, only one other horse took off with them, (the feisty one) not the rest of the inexperienced riders, or the little children! Everyone in the group could have been seriously injured. The lady on the run away horse, screamed and screamed, but the other two riders did not stop and she fell off her horse at a dead run. She bounced several times. She was badly injured and the young man offered his horse for her to ride back to the barn. She should have NOT BEEN MOVED OR MADE TO STAND. She could have suffered paralyzing injuries. It took two men to lift her and get her to a 2 seat 4 wheeler type vehicle and she was slumped over in the seat, groaning in pain and agony. It scared everyone and my grandson wanted to go home. The ride continued. I found myself leading the group. I could hear the Trail Guide’s voice behind me. We came to a fork in the trail. I yelled several times, “RIGHT OR LEFT”...yelling louder each time. Finally, when I evidently choose the wrong trail, the guide yelled “RIGHT.” He did apologize, he had taken a call on his cell phone! The lunch we were served, after we spent time quite some time looking for the loose horse and the hour and a half we waited for the ride to start, we were all starving, and it was not good and a big disappointment. Their cook did not show up that day, so they bought some BBQ brisket. The plates were already served on the table with a very small serving of brisket, a lettuce salad (?), about 8 "hot" grapes (as my grandson observed) and a sliver of cake. Very-very disappointing. There was a young man still eating when the group was rushed to start the ride back. He inhaled what was left on his plate. Then the guide kept telling all of us, that "they do not pay him to do this"...and went on to say he only gets paid tips. I heard this 8 times, not counting the time I was told. And NO, the rider that was seriously injured, did not ask to run her horse. The guide kept telling all of us that she asked him to let her run her horse too. We all told him, “no she didn't!” I doubt seriously she knew they were going to take off running anymore than the rest of us. It was unbelievable.I was close to her when I heard her say she didn’t know much about horses (they have 4 legs and can run?) and saw her apprehension in riding this horse. The young man told her this horse was FEISTY and never should have allowed her to ride it. Where is the owner during all of this? He was busy with deliveries for his new store. I did not have my cell phone with me or I would have called an ambulance. I sincerely regret that I didn't ask to borrow one. That lady should have never been moved and I pray that she did not endure any life long injuries. She hit that ground hard and bounced several times. Her horse was at a dead run. There was also a very low branch on the trail, that should have been cleared for safety. Instead, the guide made everyone do "the limbo" and lean way back in the saddle in order to get under this low branch. DANGEROUS...very dangerous, especially for non experienced riders...and those that had very young children in the saddle with them. The guide was also complaining how his last ride, the whole group, none of them knew how to ride and he had to get off and lead three of their horses across the embankments we had to go down. We were fortunate that none of the horses wanted to jump the water and mud, so we did not have anyone fall off there. On the way back to the barn, we were all led down a path right next to a hot wire electric fence for a long distance. This was very dangerous too. Any horse that may have touched that wire could have jumped out from underneath the rider.The owner needs to reassess if he is going to do trail rides or operate a store...OR, HIRE 2 people with experience and PAY THEM, so that everyone else in the ride, that entrusts their safety to him, are indeed, in safe hands. This was more than disappointing, it has been very upsetting and I purchased this through Groupon who needs to be aware of this unsafe activity. The whole day was a nightmare and I wish I had not taken my grandson on his 2nd horseback ride there. Sorry, but I wish I had never purchased this Groupon. Everyone, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
