Lake Whitney is the best lake in Texas! There are so many places to explore. McCown valley park is a nice, safe place to walk. Facilities are clean and in good order. Boat dock kept up well. Friendly gate attendants. Nice to see the wildlife too
Very comparable to Whitney state park so use the park that is closest to you. The boat ramp was closed due to low water level when we were there so we just hung out at the beach, swam and had a picnic lunch. Buy an annual pass if you plan on visiting multiple times. Very clean and week maintained park.
Quiet and relaxing as usual. Birds, deer, bunnies and squirrels all around. Perfect place to get away from the city and take any pressure off your mind.
a wonderful place to go and just walk around and enjoy the peace and quiet that you don't get in the city...if one can just sit still, and there aren't an abundance of people making noise you can see the deer, squirrels, and an occasional bunny or two....in the quietest of times you can hear the birds singing.....it offers campsite, swimming, and fishing for those that love the water and outdoors....also, there a plenty of great places to eat within short driving distances...
We went camping this weekend and visited McCown Park for the first time. What a great park! The pull through RV sites were welcome. Spacious sites, covered picnic tables, not crowded at all. The bathroom closest to us (we were in site #24) had no hot water though. We brought our bikes and rode through the park- great way to enjoy a beautiful day! We fished and kayaked as well. Great value too ($14/day for a water/electric site and NO day use fees). No firewood or ice onsite, so you need bring it with you or leave the park to get it. We are planning to go again next month!
Another week of perfection. If only every week could be like this. Clear skies at night while sitting out and talking with the family. Away from the city. Quiet. This is the place to be.
This is an exceptional value for all that you get! Serene countryside, play grounds, horse trails. Swim beaches are sand and well taken care of. Wildlife, such as deer, squirrels , birds are very abundant. Deer come as close as 20 feet away, lovely site to watch. Star gazing at night is PHENOMINAL !
I rented a space and shelter at the McCown Valley park. Therenwasn't a lot of pictures of park and as I am from Washington State..I was a little worried.. so here are pictures... we loved park and staff. Had a wonderful time!!! Water was warm and wonderful, the park was quite and well worth the cost!! Would stay there again in a heart beat!!
The playgrounds are state of the art, and both safe and fun. For example underneath is rubber padding almost a foot thick.
It was simply perfect. The family was there for a week and we loved every minute of it. You didn't need a TV or Radio to visit. The place is so relaxing it makes you forget about these things.
We walk in the park when we are in town. Lots of choices for campsites. Horseriding area, childrens' play areas, one of the best beaches at this lake, good swimming area with floating ropes. Clean shower/ baths, and plenty of them. Nice wide boat launch. Bonanza grocery, a gas station and a dollar store nearby. Some cabins for rent although the ones at the Lake Whitney Marina appear to be more upscale, if that's what you are looking for. Well kept, and most of the hosts are easy to get along with. Beautiful views of the lake.
This place is close to the house and has a good roped in swimming area for the grandkids. There are also picnic tables nearby and a shade tree under which to sit a lawn chair.
We take our camper here all summer and LOVE it! Only draw back is you can't enter via vehicle after 10pm so you have to make sure you have everything you need! Friendly staff and very flexible about spots!
i have ridden horses several times here and love the park the people are friendly and the views are amazing!!
Located off of FM 1713 north of Whitney, Texasthis Corps of Engineers park has just about everything you could want: RV camping, tent camping, or screened enclosures, boat ramp, hiking trails, and most of all --- peace and quiet.
