I thought I would see a variety of children's illustrations and some explanation of why that illustrator was used for them or at least why that style of art was used. Instead, I saw numerous illustrations by one illustrator. It was interesting to see the actual work next to a book that included the illustration. I thought I would spend an hour or two here, but was only there less than 45 minutes. I made a special trip to visit and was really disappointed.

Coming from the land of Dr Seuss (San Diego) I was happy to see such excellent original children's art on display in a wonderful facility. Marla Frazee's work was in exhibit. There was plenty of it and it was very well shown. I think people of all ages would enjoy this if they like Shel Silverstein, Norman Rockwell, Theodore Geisel, and the like. Recommended.

I downloaded the map from online of all the statues of the Dr Seuss book characters and did the tour. How fun and a seek & find treat. The artists did a great job and the beat tourist thing to do in the town

This one won't take too long, but it is worth the visit. It seems they could do so much more with the space.

Three university folk (two English Professors and a Writing Center Director) found this little museum to be fascinating. We enjoyed every display immensely, and we especially liked the video selections that accompany the artwork. Such a friendly, helpful staff, too, facilitated our enjoyment by making suggestions and providing missing details for us. Go. You'll like it if you've ever enjoyed a children's book.

We stopped in. Its a small building with rotating exhibits. There were a nice selection of illustrations to look at. A small book store. The staff was very nice. We bought 4 books.

The changing exhibits are very fun to stop by and see. The gallery is free to the public and definitely worth the time to check out. We go frequently.

When we visited the museum on our family vacation, the exhibit was pictures by the author of the I Spy children's books. It was fun finding the different things in the large pictures, but I was disappointed that this was the only exhibit. A nice museum with no admission charge.

Free. Children's book illustrators are exceptional artists and this place really makes you appreciate them. A great space and a don't miss place. Not giving it 5 stars because the staff was not as welcoming as they should of been.

Pronounced "nickel" by the locals, the NCCIL displays original artwork by illustrators of children's books, with wonderful guest appearances by some of those artists. There's nothing like it closer than Houston. Anyone will enjoy it who has envied their kids for having such terrific pictures in their books.

Been to the NCCIL many times over that last few years and have never been disappointed. The exhibits are always well done, and the activities are great.

Although there's no permanent exhibit, the Dr. Seuss The Lorax original drawings were fascinating. The bookstore is bright and full of beautiful children's books, some of which are autographed by authors who have visited. The staff people I encountered were friendly and enthusiastic.

Really good displays centered around illustrated children's literature. Kids and adults alike will love this place.

I haven't been here... yet. It's on my to do list though. I was thinking this was the Children's Museum when I checked it.

Neat idea with limited focus, but well executed in the restored warehouse.
