This was a fun trip I got to participate on with a school field trip. The food and sights were amazing but there was rat poop on almost every thing...it was on the napkins, even on top of the mustard bottle they brought me. Must say turned me off a bit. Best bison burger ever and great priced just grossed out a bit.

Located on a patch of prairie just two exits south of Cheyenne on I-25 lies the Terry Bison Ranch. The main attraction at the ranch is the train tour, which trundles along a large circular track. This track begins by slowly winding through the barnyard animals including unlikely candidates such as camels, ostriches, and a yak. After several minutes of animated narration from the knowledgable tour guide he stops the train and the bison gather round as he passes out bags of treats with which to feed the bison right out of your hand. As the bison feeding goes on, the tour guide talks about the bison, its history, and even how it tastes. Departing from the bison, the train takes you over the border briefly into Colorado before returning to the station. In addition to the train, there is a couple of historical buildings on the property as well as a gift shop in which you may buy bison meat, which is allegedly the second healthiest meat you can eat. Finally, it costs $12 for adults, less for children, and $2 for a bag of bison treats.

We made a reservation to rent a cabin 2 weeks prior to our arrival. The day prior to our arrival, we confirmed the reservation, and we were told that everything has been reserved as requested for the 2 day stay. We were also told that they had cabin #1 reserved for the 2 day stay. However, the day we were supposed to go and enjoy what we reserved......my husband received a voice message stating that "they overbooked," so we are only allowed to stay one night instead of the two nights. So, we ended up in cabin #2 which is no big deal because the cabin was clean, but we couldn't stay the 2 nights as confirmed twice.

We went to the Bison Ranch, 2 seniors, 2 adults and a two-year old. We all enjoyed our afternoon. The weather was beautiful and feeding the bison by hand was the highlight.We also ate a late lunch at Senator's Restaurant on the property. The menu was varied and the food overall was good. The only problem was it took what seemed like forever to get it and when we did get it, it was barely warm. I don't know why as there were only about 4-5 tables with diners. Also, it was quite expensive. The expense would not have been so bad if the food had been a bit warmer. Probably would not eat there again.

You get to feed a 2600 pound Bison named Dave! The tour starts in a smallish train that rumbles through the pasture passing the ostriches, llamas and camels and ultimately ending up at the Bison herd. The critters all come over to the train where you get to feed them. The guide is full of buffalo stories and facts. Just an excellent experience. The kids on board were having a great time.

This is a great place to take young kids on a weekend afternoon. There are many animals to see at this ranch and opportunities to interact with some of them as well. The train ride is a bit bumpy and rickety but worth it just to feed the bison. The train makes a 15 minute stop in the bison herd and after purchasing a $2 bag of feed, you too can get your fingers covered in bison slobber. I would take the earliest train as the bison become a bit disinterested in eating from your hand by the time the 3rd train passes through. They serve food at the ranch and bison burgers are on the menu - which are very good. Have fun!

I visited this attraction with my mom and my two nephews and niece. We ate at the Tombstone Cafe on site for breakfast (which was mediocre, but I'll do a review of that too). After breakfast, we took the 2 mile train ride through the meadows to view the bison. I'm rating this a 5 mainly because of the train ride. This was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Cheyenne. The tour guide drove the train and spent quite a bit of time talking about the history of the ranch and bison in general. This went on a bit long since it was hot sitting in the train before we got moving, but we purchased a bag of bison feed for $2 and were able to feed the bison by hand once the ride was underway. They come right up to the train and you stick the food directly into their mouth. They will stick out their long pointed tongues and they are absolutely huge! It's very exciting. The kids had lots of fun and it was definitely worth the trip. They also had other interesting animals to see, like camels, ostrich, mini horses and goats, etc. TIP: Make sure to print coupons from the cheyenne.org to save 10% on the cost of the train ride and souvenirs in the gift shop. Also, take cash to purchase food for the bison.

We stayed in the bunkhouse for 3 nights while attending the Cheyenne Frontier days. This place did not disappoint for us. The train ride and a chance to feed the Bison was a memory we will never forget and still talking about. Yes it is dated somewhat but Hello, it has history and makes it unique. If you are looking for a brand new modern ranch, this is not probably for you but if you like the historic value as well as a treat with the Bison, don't hesitate.

This was so much fun! We rode on a "train" out to a herd of bison and got to feed them these tubular things. The bison were so huge and so cute. When they ate they would use their long tongues to take the food from our fingers. We learned the difference between a male/female bison and you only had to look at their horns. Go there and you'll find out how, too! Our train driver/tour conductor was very knowledgeable and really cared about the bison and how they were taken care of. You can tell that he just loved them!

All the servers and cooks were kissing hold hands picking up each other then touching the food! We waiting for 20 mins seeing all this with no food and has to tell the server we were leaving and asked for a manger. But of course no manger around.

Take a train ride, feed the bison, catch fish, ride horses. The kids will love this place. However, the gift shop is the usual junk and the restaurant was less than fair.

We were staying in Cheyenne and had passed by this ranch and my wife wanted to visit. We had breakfast and started out for Terry Bison Ranch.We started taking pictures as soon as we parked. We went into the Gift shop and we purchased several items.Also took pictures of my wife on the Bison and Jack-A-Lope,lol We bought tickets for a train ride through the Ranch.My wife was still taking pictures while I started a conversation with a couple of ranch hands.(enjoyed the talk) We boarded the train along with several others and our Engineer / Cowboy,full dressed with pistol on his side,boots hat and the works. A VERY nice young man I might add.He told about the history of the ranch and it was his HOME. We had to stop for some Bison on the track and then the door was opened and this Large Bull Bison stuck his head in for some treats.The Bison was called Gene Simmons and when handed a piece of food you sure knew why. The Bison was within a foot of our feet.We then finished out our ride and went to the restaurant to have "A BUFFALO BURGER" We were told the best way to order was med. pink inside since Bison have very little fat.Our order came and the server was excellent and couldn't do enough for you. This was a very TASTY burger and so were the fries. We left the restaurant and walked around looking at the animals,Camels in Wyoming ? Ostriches ,goats,pigs,burros,Llamas,horses etc.Some of the horses needed their Hooves cut back and shod,but they had been through a very brutal winter. We enjoyed it very much and we are retired, so if you have children I'm sure they would like it too !

While the ranch hand was very nice and the wait staff in the restaurant was cheerful, the overnight accommodations for horses are less than satisfactory. Stabling was no more than a dark sheep barn surrounded by bison, camels, ostriches and who knows what other critters! We worried all night.Their cabins are cute, clean, and priced reasonably, but the beds are not big enough for two adults. I am sure that during Cheyenne Days, they get a lot of traffic, as it's a quaint walk back into older times, but we were just traveling through.

We decided to check out the place since we just moved here. The food did take 45-50 to get though the place was dead. I got their bison burger, which I've ate bison before, and it was okay. The fries were really greasy though. Waitress was super nice and so was the inside of the place. Gift shop was nice and reasonable prices. We took the train tour and my daughter loved it since we got to feed a few bison. People will try to swarm where the bison will come up and are not considerate. The other animals and pins were not too clean looking. But again, my daughter still enjoyed seeing them. Would go back again.

Place needs to be taken care of better, especially the animals. Horses need to be combed out all over, most of the cages needed to be cleaned out and some are too small for the animals. All in all the place was on a beautiful piece of land, over twenty eight thousand acres. The breeding stock of Bison were allowed pasture roaming, however the rest were being fattened up for food. Horses need a bigger yard and it is so muddy and I don't feel like it is cleaned much. Tried the Bison Burger and found out it is a tough piece of meet, not much flavor, no fat on Bison and very dry.
