We found Liquid Light Glass from some of the local literature of things to do and see in Santa Fe. When we walked into the retail shop we were amazed with the beautiful works of art from Jannine Cabossel. Jannine invited us into the workshop to watch her make her artwork. She was such a nice lady and described the process of glass blowing and answered any questions we had. What an incredibly talented artist!!
We went to Santa Fe for an extended weekend and wanted to do things we've never done before. Elody is a phenomenal artist and very patient teacher. The best souvenirs (and memories!) are the ones you make yourself!
Our group was two families, 8 total, ages from 12-50+. Elodie and her group were very patient and nice to everyone. Skip some other attractions and spend a couple of hours here creating something unique that you will always remember. The kids loved it. The glass pieces for sale are also very quality. It's in a funky, fun, kind of artsy strip center. Best thing we did on the entire trip.
A great place where they make hand blown glass..beautiful things coming out of here, and a great reputation.
This was a one of a kind experience and a way to "be a part" of Santa Fe's artistic flare. Elodie and Marcy enhanced our experience by giving us some history behind glass shaping. They were able to ship our glass pieces once they cool down. I'm sure they won't break because they wrapped all the glass pieces we bought in a hefty layer of bubble wrap.
My wife wanted to see this place based on things she had read. I went along as the dutiful husband. Once there, I fell in love with the place. While we didn't buy anything (yet), we were able to watch and speak with Jannine while she was doing some glass blowing. We also left with information about their Saturday glass blowing classes which we fully intend to take when we return to Santa Fe for a week in October. The pieces for sale are strikingly beautiful, so I imagine we will also be the proud owners of one or more of their pieces on that same return trip.
We visited the various studios in this cool little artsy enclave and signed up for the class to make a paperweight. The two artists who taught the class were great teachers - patient and encouraging. Its a very cool process and super fun to get in there, feel the heat, and appreciate just how difficult it must be to create the more elaborate pieces they have in the shops. I'd love to get back and take one of the longer classes. Its fun and very cool to leave with something you actually made.
They have wonderful creations here. It's so cool to learn about the glasswork with the cool folks there. It's nice because it's off the beaten track & not hard to get to. Also Counter Culture Cafe is next door & Plaza Cafe just down the road.
We got to watch the glass blowing and hear about how the process works. They have a fair amount of glass available for purchase. If you are curious how these glass articles are made this is a good place to visit.
Last Saturday, we had a blast discovering how to make a paper weight. Truly it was so cool to work directly with Elodie, she made the art of paper weight making fascinating. The hot molten glass turned into beautiful one of a kind pieces of art. It made our trip to Santa Fe even more special!
Thoroughly enjoyed meeting Elodie Holmes, owner of the gallery, and Jannine, who taught our glass paperweight class. Would recommend taking one of their classes if interested in this form of art.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We enjoyed having you and look forward to seeing you again! It is reviews like this that really help boost the visibility of my shop. Thanks again!Elodie
Wonderful glass art and not to miss demonstrations. Everyone was very friendly & informative. Check the website for demonstration times.
One of two hot shops (with furnaces for making art glass) in Santa Fe, this shop run by Elodie Holmes features wonderful master demonstrations (see the Glass Alliance of New Mexico for details) and also offers paper weight classes for groups of four in which you can make for own paperweight! The shop also sells fine art glass pieces.
Being glass collectors, we had to stop and check out liquid light glass. Elodie is very charming, knowledgable, and blows some amazing glass. If you are into glass art, you must visit.
