We visit Albuquerque a few times a year and each time this place comes up and we somehow manage to not make it here but that was not the case this time. The kids loved it, lots of activities for them to play with and explore and the best part was that all of them were in working condition unlike some of the places we have been that are similar to Explora. If you have young children give it a shot I think they will enjoy it, I know mine did!
lay out and captions. lots of local displays. Good for kids interactive. film and videos were good for all ages.
Our grandkids love it! Its very interesting and educational. There are a lot of activities for the kids to participate.
I love taking my family here so much to do and we love how you can interact with everything and how I see the thought process it brings out in my child. We can spend hours in there experimenting and feeling like a kid again ourselves! I recommend everyone should take their children here.
Love this place - fun for all ages! My kids range in age from 9-16 and this place delivers. It's interesting for younger kids (great bubble area) and older (love the puzzle tables). Adults get into the fun with the suspended bike that you ride on a cable. Highly recommend - especially on a HOT summer day...it's nice and cool inside.
There is a reason this place is number 1 of things to to in Albuquerque! We visited on a Saturday afternoon and stayed for hours! I didn't expect so many experiments to be crammed in this place! Wind, water, color, lights, and lasers - oh my! My daughter is 10 and she loved it! But there were tons of younger kiddos having a blast too! Even the adults enjoyed themselves. There's staff all over willing to answer questions. Truly a wonderful experience!
Kid or adult, this is science at its most fun! My husband and I enjoyed the afternoon at this museum and would go back again - it makes you feel like a kid!
This museum is amazing for kids of all ages. It is completely interactive and great for teaching science concepts. There are age appropriate activities for everyone to enjoy!
This is amazing. This isn't just some little spot to dump the kids so you can say they got to go... this place actually triggers those little minds and imaginations. They have hands on challenges and "experiments", story tellers, and so much more- be sure to add this to your tour selections- your children will love it.
Although we did not have kids to take, we decided that we could brush up on our acquired adult knowledge. It was fun to design a pin ball machine that got as many hits as possible, etc. My favorite part was riding the tightrope on a bicycle with a balance umbrella under it.
This is classified as a "children's museum," but really... anybody who enjoys experimenting will enjoy themselves! It can get crowded (especially when school is out or when they're hosting special events), but the kids hardly notice. Experimental stations from wind and water to music and puzzles! Outdoor activities, ample sitting areas, and overall, just a nice place to spend some time with your inquisitive child(ren). There isn't food available on-site, but you can take food in and eat outside or at one of the "rest areas."
The Explora, located in Albuquerque, is one very good children's museum. It had a lot of hands-on experiments, some with water and some others with things like spirographs. It had a neat section outside where you could build a mini house you could go into with plastic. The Explora also has a gift shop with neat scientific and non-scientific gifts. The Explora was excellent overall.
Three families went with 3 kids ages 1 - 5 and they all loved it and found activities suitable for their ages. You could spend the whole day there! There are so many hands-on activities for kids that you just don't have time to do it all. If your child gets bored with one activity, there seems to be 100s more waiting. And the kids can make/create items as a "take home souvenir" with many of the activities. There is even an art/creative room where anybody can make anything with the materials on hand and take it home. It is a great way to get kids interested in science and learning and stir their creativity/minds. If I lived there, I would definitely get a membership! And it is not just for the kids! Their adult guides learn a lot too! There also is a "bike ride" on a cable wire for older kids and adults (not afraid of heights of course). One thing to note: pack snacks and lunches because there is no cafe on site.
There isn't a lot to add, but I want to say this is a great experience for kids of all ages. It brought me back to my own childhood when I would enjoy going to local space and science center museums and such. I loved how practically everything is hands on and my two year old loved the place. It wasn't that busy when I came, but on a weekend or holiday I am imagining it to be much less fun if it is too crowded. Favorite spots: 1. Toddler play area- she loved everything here2. Outside and upstairs- the huge building blocks were a hit with parents and their kids3. Giant bubble maker- Pretty fun!4. Fountain- it was fun pressing the buttons to control the water fountain jets. Come here and you will be in for a fun treat!
This museum is located the in Old Town area where many of our other museums are located too. This is a hands on museum so plan to spend some time with your children. They specialize in art and science.
