We prefer Ort Farms over Alstede. Plenty of autumn activities, and we have been taking the kids for 11 years. (I even take the girls here after school for recreation instead of a local park.) This is our choice of local farms. Great hay ride - great value.
Been coming here since the kids were little meeting our friends to pick pumpkins. The staff are very friendly & the kids always have a blast. One of the "kids" is in college and another is now working in North Dakota and both came for the outing!
It's hard to find a farm that offers the option to cut your pumpkin off the vine AND bring your dog. Ort Farm not only offers both, it also has an incredibly warm and friendly staff. The hay ride to the field was great and the donuts are yummy. We highly recommend a visit!
We visited over the Halloween season and were really glad we did. Usually we go to Alstede, but the crowds the day we went we just too much to enjoy. We enjoyed the corn maze very much, was not easy at all, but we made it out on the second pass. The pumpkin fields was nice and had many to choose from. The ride out was short and cute, lines moved fast for the wagon rides. The squash there were huge, the one I bought made 2 gallons od soup!! There were a lot of activities for the kids to do, monster truck rides, kids mazes, hay bales jumpy thing, feeding some farm animals, and more. Other than the carrots for the animals and the truck ride, there is no fee associated with the activities. There were plenty of food options at the food tent and the lines moves quickly. There was some music playing and the lots of people were dancing. The cider we purchased there was very good and we were pleasantly surprised at the total from all of our purchases. Parking was ample and free. We will def come back next season. Was a fun day out without the massive crowds and lines, which is important with small kids.
Orts Farm is good for young families. While they do not have as much to offer as nearby Alstede's, they have everything a young family needs, do not nickel and dime you for everything, and the crowds in the fall are much more manageable. The Orts are also responsible community citizens. In October their refreshment stand is used by two churches, the fire squad and the rescue squad as fundraisers with 100% of the proceeds going to the 4 organizations. Thank you Ort family.
I found out about this farm thru a sell on groupon which was $20. for 6 ppl to go into the corn maze and on the hayride. I took my family ,the maze was cool and they had some animals for the kids to see. It was nice to go on the hayride because it took us around and then stopped for us to go pumpkin picking. I thought it was cool , I wasnt expecting it..The only bad thing was we were hungry and the only hotdog truck they had ran out of food and their pies were $16..really!? for pie:(. Overall we had fun but eat before you go.
We stopped by Orts farm the other day for some vegetables. The farm stand and the variety of what was offered were rather small in comparison to some of the other farm stands in the area. What we did get was good though.
