Melicks is a family owned Apple and fruit orchard where you can pick your own. This is the type of attraction that has bus loads of schools kids during the week and day trippers from the city on the weekend. Well worth the trip to give your family a chance to see where their food comes from!

The year round farm store is a wonderful place to get out into the countryside and pick up some fresh vegetables and fruits. I especially like to visit it in the late summer and early fall. Here's the twist... just a few blocks away is the Melick's apple orchard which we have been going to for years. So, not only do we visit the farmstand all year, we also pick our own apples and pumpkins there as well. For parents with children the experience of getting away from suburbia for a while and seeing the country setting in and around Oldwick, NJ (Just off Rte 78) is worth the trip.

I am a long time resident of Tewksbury where Melicks is located. Without fail, their selection of apples is always the best during the season. Honey Crisps are my favorite and usually sold out early in the season. I appreciate that they keep a stock of them long past most other places. Their pick your own is far more civilized than some of the other local venues.

Love this farm. It became a tradition to go there for apple-picking every year. Prices are a little steep, but fun is priceless, right?

We checked out all three locations in Hunterdon area. The farmer's market in Oldwick has great pastries and cold apple cider. My son absolutely loves seeing the pig every time we go!!Drive by apple orchard and cider mill in Oldwick as well. If you're looking for convenience by the market it is perfect however be forewarned, tight lot and easy to miss as it is off main road. Califon has a much easier location to get to for picking your own. They even had their own small lot of farm animals. Trees are miniature variety so easy for little ones to do some of their own picking and not the rotted ones on the ground!! Great fun for the family and a nice variety of choice.

Large farm for Apple picking. How busy they are depends on when you go. We've gone to Melick's for the past 4 years and have always had a good time. They have hayrides on the weekend. They have other pick your own fruits too but we've only come for apples. Cider and donuts are delicious. Always a nice day.

They buy rotten New York State apples and truck them to their orchard before and after regular business hours to keep the public fooled into believing the cider is made with local apples.

This review is for the Califon location. We came for the peaches and were pleasantly surprised that they also had corn, Asian pears, nectarines, apples, etc. The lady at the store was so friendly and gave us clear direction on what was ready and what was not, and where to pick them. At first glance it felt like a lot of the peaches were not ready, but after a closer look, we were able to find lots of good ones that weren't too ripe so they were perfect, especially if you are planning to give them to friends, because at least they won't spoil right away and it gives you a few days to do that. The quality of the peaches was amazing. The white ones are smaller, but so so sweet. Both yellow and white peaches are unbelievably juicy, much much better than the ones you get from grocery stores. And they are so cheap! Only a dollar something per pound if you pick your own. We also bought plums and a few different kinds of tomatoes from their store. The plums are so sweet and juicy you have to eat them over a sink if you don't want to wear a bib! Overall this was a great experience and we can't wait to go back and pick something else!

We visit last Saturday 8/16.2014 to but Two basket of peach. We visit every year. When we check the peach condition before paying, emplyee girl found damaged peach (9).When she come back to bring replacement, it is smallest peach we can see. We ask her why replacement peach so tiny. She said she found them back. She could not correcte. We don't think she does not know how to treat the customer. we felt it is cheated. We can not feel go back again next year. Try to somewhere else, Sorry. You lose one customer.

Fresh vegetables, pies and pumpkins so much fun just to stop you will pick something up. I love the variety of fresh things and their homemade pastries for the holidays.

When all other farms no longer had apples, Melick's had plenty left. We picked beautiful, giant apples--tasty too! We arrived at 9:45AM and basically had the place to ourselves. If you arrive at noon or later, the place becomes very crowded. We also purchased yummy apple cider donuts and apple pie, all reasonably priced. Clean bathrooms too!! There are a ton of gnats all over the place, the only thing I disliked.

I don't pretend to be country...however, nothing is worse than a wannabe experience. I should of known as I pulled my family into a parking lot full of cars and weaved my way following the waving flags of the traffic guides. We picked up the bushel baskets and waited on a 20 minute line to do the 3 minute hayride to the back of the orchard. We walked about for a bit and picked while two guys got into a verbal altercation complete with appropriate cursing and threats of punching each others &@$( faces. Oh the joys of a day in the country with half of central jersey & NYC!!!! Another grown man and his mother loudly bickered over her picking up apples off the ground. She ended up stomping off toward the hayride back. Nothing was ostensibly wrong with the orchard or the running of the farm...it was just too over crowded...I think if I put the sound of birds chirping on my iPhone and played it while grocery shopping I would have a more profound "day in the country".

If you want it farm fresh go to Melick's. A bit pricey but worth it for the freshness. Don't miss the freshly baked pies.

This is an average farm market with very special pies (try the Blueberry Lemon!!) and adorable, friendly pot belly pigs in the yard just outside.

We stopped by Melick’s Town Farm in Oldwick on our way back from Flemington. They had a nice selection of fresh vegetables, so we ended up getting some corn and tomatoes there instead of going to a grocery store.
