finn's point national cemetery

Loved my first visit to Finn's Point as an adult. So peaceful and serene. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Nice place to just get away and enjoy the silence. Half mile walk from Fort Mott. Take the paved walkway or nature trail. Highly recommended.

This historic cemetery is tucked away near Fort Mott & is very well maintained. It is a little piece of history that is definitely worth a visit if you are visiting the Park..

Very quiet and thought provoking. Learned a little we did not know about local history. Trying to put yourself in that setting centuries ago is fun.

This is the most beautiful setting for a cemetery I've ever visited, and I've been to Arlington. Very small, totally isolated, and very well maintained. Several thousand Confederate soldiers are buried here, along with some German POWs, and also some U.S. veterans. This small cemetery is surrounded by a stone wall, and on the other side of the wall are high water plants and other vegetation, which creates a very beautiful setting..don't miss this!

Finn’s Point National Cemetery is a short drive from the Delaware Memorial Bridge and Historic Salem City. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a beautiful site surrounded by tidal marshes and woods. If you park at Fort Mott there is a path that will lead you though the woods to the cemetery.

Since we were doing so well on time we decided to detour to Finns Point, it wasnt too far off the main road, and was relatively easy to find. It was early in the morning so the building was closed but you could still access the informative signs and get good shots of the lighthouse from below. I do know that if you go during normal hours there is the ability to climb the tower. It is a unique looking lighthouse, not like any we have seen, in the morning its almost spooky. Very Cool...and worth the few minutes

Fantastic visit for veterans, and military folk alike... but I love the nature trail thats right by Finn's Point. Its mythical and make me feels like I'm in another world.Marker 10 is exceptionally wonderful. Feels like there is super strong magnetics there. Even the birds fly in a circle there. Very beautiful.

Finn's Point is within Fort Mott. You drive down a small winding road, and it leads you directly into the Cemetery. Some maybe kind of off put by the location because part of the paved road becomes gravel before changing back to being paved since there is nearby construction on the area being done. At the end of the paved road you reach Finn's Point. Here you we will see the historical marker, the gravestones. There is a huge 85 ft Confederate Monument at the site to honor the soldiers that were imprisoned over at Ft. Delaware and died due to illness. You also will see 13 white marble headstones that mark the burial location of 13 German soldiers from WWII that died while in captivity in nearby Ft. Dix. I would like to also note that this is the location where serial killer Andrew Cunanan drove threw and killed the caretaker back in 1997.

After visiting Fort Delaware, I wanted to see the spot where my ancestor was buried, so I had to drive from Delaware City to Finn's Point. Approaching the cemetery from Fort Mott is by way of a road that looks abandoned and leading to some place you really do not want to go as it slowly degrades. But just when you really begin to question whether you should turn around, the road made a bend and everything changes. The cemetery is surrounded by what appears to be a massive seawall, but is itself surrounded by a stone wall. Small in acreage, it is well maintained and still in use. The monument was worth the drive.

Well maintained,great history lesson for children,especially Ft Mott and Pea Patch Island can't go wrong
