Were in Plainsboro on some work and decided to see the Mandir. Was the best thing we did. The Mandir is still under construction. Made from White Italian marble. The marble goes from Italy to India where the artisans work on it and then ship the carved marble to New Jersey. Work is still on. A ten minute video explains the nitty gritty involved in the construction. Volunteers take you around explaining the minute workmanship. There is a lake in front of the temple. No photography is allowed. Arathi is held in the evening. Once completed, it will be the biggest temple in the world in terms of acreage. One can easily spend a couple of hours in peace. There is a store which sells authentic indian food.
Its one of the best temples i have visited in USA. The intricate work of art, the detailing of sculptures will keep you busy for hours. We were able to see construction workers were still working & i believe there's more to look forth. It has enough water bodies & open space to make you feel relaxed and is conveniently tucked away from the sound & lights of the city.Parking space is huge and it should not be a problem.Aarti timings were 7pm and 8:30pm when we went .
We were in the area for a wedding and had some time to do a bit of sight seeing. We looked up attractions on TripAdvisor and saw the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir listed. I checked out Temple's website and learned that it just opened a few months prior and that there are Aartis (ceremonies which symbolize that triumph of light over darkness and also serves as a connection between devotees and the Lord) scheduled throughout the day. We arrived about 40 minutes prior to the Aarti and were met at the entrance of the temple by a volunteer who gave us a guided tour. The tour was very informative and the volunteer answered our many questions. The Temple was amazing, I can not describe the beauty. The facility is still under construction and will be for some time, despite the construction, the main temple is completed and worth the visit.
Yes, the temple which was thrown open to public from this AUGUST 10TH, is in line with the principles of the society on Hindu culture. the intricate art work on the entire temple building is marvelous with the minute details on the marble. AMAZING. Still they are finishing the outside details but one day it will be a tourist spot in this part of the world. The second temple which is being constructed on the property will be an added attraction
