belmar beach and boardwalk

I've lived on the NJ shore my entire life. As a child, my parents always kept a membership to a private beach club. Now being the adult I wonder why they did. Belmar beach and board walk is safe, clean and always something fun to do. I now take my parents in their wheel chairs along the boardwalk so they can watch the waves, children playing and seeing their grandchildren bringing them the nicest shells anywhere to be found in monmouth county shore. I come here spring, summer and fall

After hurricane Sandy, the mayor of Belmar promised the boardwalk would be rebuilt before the start of the next summer season. He had his doubters but it was done and it is a great boardwalk. A dark composite material that looks great, cleans easy, does not show the dirt, no splinters, smooth service and will not deteriorate. The boardwalk is great for running, walking and riding bikes (during times permitted).The food trucks parked along the boardwalk on the street side are a little distracting, but provide a service and are temporary. Last year the beach was replenished with sand dredged from the ocean and is not as nice as it was before. The new sand is course, darker and rocky.There is no smoking allowed on the beach which is good. Food and non-alcoholic drinks are permitted. Note that I have seen a number of people fined for having alcoholic on the beach.Belmar is a place to hang at the beach, there are no rides, games, concessions, etc.If you visit the Belmar beach please do not litter and remind others as well. It is disgraceful how some people (not you) leave their garbage on the beach and even bury it instead of depositing it in the garbage cans conveniently located all long the beach area. Keep Belmar to its name - Beautiful Sea.

I run the Belmar Spring Lake Bdwalk 5x a week and it's the best part of my day , everyday all year long.

Great boardwalk. After Sandy, totally rebuilt. Love to walk all seasons but particularly in the fall when it is less crowded.

I am writing a book and was able to pick up a great WiFi connection just a few feet away from the ocean surf. I would sit in my beach chair, look at the ocean and work on my book. It is paradise, especially in September!

Love the beach and Boardwalk in Belmar. Lived there for many years. Doing a great job restoring after Sandy. Beach is wonderful, especially in September and October. Lots of places to eat. Love walking the boards in the early am and watching the sun come up.

It is such a pleasure to visit this beach after Sandy beat it up. Army Corps did a wonderful job. Almost better than it was. Not really an arcade/stand type boardwak, but clean and plenty of use even in the Spring and Fall. Take a stroll or just sit on the gliding benches.... and its all FREE after Labor Day...Enjoy it.

Off season and not crowded at all. Too bad the weather wasn't warmer or my husband and I would've sat on the beach. To watch the sun rise as we were walking was great.

We are retired and live 50 miles from the Jersey Shore. Belmar is our favorite beach because it lacks the arcades, amusement park, and the many fast food shops of other Shore areas. Thus people congregate at the beach for water activities.The boardwalk has been replaced and the sand beach made steeper since the hurricane. Temporary trailers still house the restrooms, which are kept very clean by very conscientious employees. Suggest, if going on weekends, you get there by 10 am to find a parking space---or you may walk for many blocks. Also, unless you have handicap status, remember to pay for parking at the box and place the receipt in your car window---parking is strictly enforced.

the playground was easily accessible and clean and the children loved it. we were able to walk down to water's edge and let them play there also. There were nearby shops for hats and iced coffee.

The new boardwalk(Sandy removed the old one) is quite beautiful. Not all the structures have been completed as yet, and so we look forward to returning when all is complete. The one negative is the lack of a railing in most areas on both sides(street & sand) of the boardwalk. Seems like a safely issue.

We were in Belmar for a beach wedding and spent a day at the beach. It was very clean and nice. We didn't visit the boardwalk as we were chased by rain. The area was very nice and impressive compared to other beaches I've been too. Would definitely consider going back.

Very clean family friendly beaches with a brand new boardwalk. Awesome playgrounds every few blocks right on the beach. Perfect family destination.

........ Clean and Beautiful beach to visit ! I think it is the place to visit again next time, and atake more long to hiking there and snap shoot more picture .To keep in my nice memory!

I love that the shops are across the street from the beach. The brand new boardwalk was great for running or walking.
