There is a nice place to stop off the highway with a portapotty if you need it. The water was low when we stopped, so we were able to walk a good distance around the lake right on the shore almost touching the water. If you want a quite place to get out of North Conway and have a picnic, go canoeing or kyacking (motor boats are not allowed including electric motors) then this the place.
This is a beautiful lake we stumbled upon! Great place for a sunset. The water is soooo clear! They don't allow motor boats on the lake. We didn't see a place to rent a canoe there.
Beautiful lake with Fall color reflections in the water. Visited on my way to N. Conway and on my way out the next morning. Loved it in the morning!
I love this lake , it's pristine waters and beautiful views .. It seems Harder to access every yr : Parking is a problem and only in designated spaces which are few and far between . Seems the only access is owned by an organization and not the state . Yrs ago the raking area and its then sandy beaches were maintained by the state . To bad it has gone so far down hill , the lake itself is one of NH most pristine ! Getting on it is darn near impossible ... To bad !
We put 4 kayaks in near bridge on southern end of lake. Lake is about a mile long and is nice and quiet (no motors permitted). Water was clean and we had fun jumping off kayaks to cool off. Nice way to spend a warm afternoon.
As you approach Lake Chocorua going North on Rt 16, stop at the top of the hill, before you get to the lake, and enjoy a splendid view of Mt Chocorua in the background, and the lake below. Truely stunning! Breathtaking in the Fall.
What a beautiful, unspoiled lake! We were driving through NH last year and accidentally found this amazing lake while heading towards the Lakes Region. The shallow waters reflect mountains and trees around. I was there during the fall, it was like stepping into a magic autumn fairyland. Not many tourists know about this lake, and it looked much more peaceful than the lakes near Meredith and Laconia. A little piece of unspoiled nature.
This Lake is so peaceful! It is very clean and is perfect for swimming, Kayaking or canoeing. There are no motorized boats allowed so it is kept very clean. Our dogs love it! Beaches are well maintained. It is right off route 16 about 7 miles south of Conway, NH. You can see it from the road so it is easy to spot and get to. The view of Mount Chocorua is breathtaking. The association provides a porta potty for the summer months which is very helpful. There are also hiking trails available nearby.
The local town has protected this lake from development. No little shacks, boat ramps, power boats, etc. Just a peaceful place to see the mountains reflected in the water.
I used to live about an hour or so away from it and would go there on the weekends. One of the most beautiful places in New Hampshire if not anywhere. If you love the woods, mountains, crystal clear lakes....then this is heaven!
This lovely, calm, shallow lake is perfect for swimming, kayaking, canoeing and enjoying. Dog-friendly too!
This is one of the prime sights in New Hampshire, a serene lake reflecting one of the first major mountains that one sees when traveling north on Rte 16. There is ample parking and a porta-potty available. Picnic tables or soft pine needles on the ground - either good for a rlunchbreak. The lake is shallow and great for wading. I've never taken my canoe here, but have seen others putting in.
This was not my first visit to the lake , I had come here with my brother , sister and parents for 20 something yrs . This was our place to swim , back then the motel and cottages we stayed in had no pool do we took a short ride here to picnic and cool down ! Well it's still looks the same as it did long ago , the water is crystal clear , spotless and mountain views abound . Oh did I mention it's free . A must place to take a swim ....
Stop here often it a very peaceful place and beautiful place. It's a must see. go for the sunset you wont regret!!
Pull in, park, take great family photos with mountain & water background that is stunning. Great to canoe or kayak. You can swim, although it doesn't look like it - use sneakers, very rocky coast. Port-A-John during three seasons.
