If you love Spam stop in Austin, MN and give the place a look. You can see the history of the product and taste different flavors. Yes it is a factory store a fun little stop to rest and snack. Who knows you may want to buy a case and copy down the Hawai'ian Spam recipes. Give it a try.

The Spam Museum is a newer facility and is slated to be moved and expanded a few blocks away from the current location, right in the middle of downtown. It's amazing the impact that Spam has had on American culture and specifically the military. The self-guided tour takes you through the complete history of Spam starting with it's very simple roots all the way up to present day. Worth the trip and visit!

A very well done and tongue in cheek museum. You'll learn all about the history of Spam in a fun and colorful displays. Don't miss the Monty Python tribute. Everything you'd ever want with in the gift shop. A must stop!

The Spam Museum has closed for a short while. It will reopen next year sometime/not sure when. They will be opening in the center of town on Main Street. I am very excited to see the new building. Spam Museum will say not realizing the history this can of meat holds. If your near Austin MN please stop in and visit, you will be surprised.

I took a quick tour of the museum in August 2013. This summer on our way out to the black hills, my granddaughter and I made a plan to stop at the SPAM Museum to break up the long road trip. Our stop there ended up being at least a good 2 hours. We enjoyed the movies and learning the history of SPAM. She had a blast in the "production" room dressing up as a production worker. The game room was fun. The volunteers at the museum are elderly people that are so sweet and helpful. One of them suggested that my granddaughter stand by the wall so I could take a picture of her so she could blend in with the other workers. We were trying to take selfies by SPAMMY when one of the other nice ladies offered to take a picture of us using our phones. We spent alot for souvenirs but felt it was worth it for the dedication these volunteers put into this museum. We did stop back on our way home to pick up a bunch of SPAM. It was flavors that they don't sell in grocery stores in my area that we got for family and friends. I hope someday that we get to see the new museum.

The Spam Museum is now closed. All of us who loved the interactive center are sad. But the good news is that the Hormel company is building a new museum on the Main Street of Austin, Minnesota. The bad news is the plans currently plan on opening in 2 years. Spam merchandise is available at Games People Play if you are looking for fun Christmas presents. The Spam logo is on just about everything you can imagine. Don't give up on Spamie !!! He will be back.

It was the best way to spend a day in Austin, Mn. What a wonderful and informative place. The Hormel family and corporation has a real jewel with this museum.

Maybe my hopes were just too high, I was really looking forward to this visit but was disappointed. I assumed there would be some sort of cafe or kitchen where you could try a big variety of dishes made with Spam, things like Spam sushi you hear tell about. There was nothing like that at all, although there was one free sample of luke-warm Spam - not a creative dish made with Spam, just Spam from the can. I was also disappointed in the gift shop, more Hormel theme products than Spam. The museum did provide a good history of Hormel and Spam, and I guess that is what a museum is supposed to do! I just expected more.

When I was at the Minneapolis airport, I noticed a brochure for the Spam Museum. I never would have known to visit, so I had to go. I laughed at the 20 minute video as it brought back memories of Spam commercials. I liked all of the exhibits and the interactive displays. can't miss the Spam store either. Fun time.

Stopped at the museum while we were travelling through the area. The museum had great displays of the development of Spam over the years. Gift shop had everything you could think of with the name Spam on it.

The Spam Museum is now closed until 2016, as it is moving to a new location. I had been meaning to get there for years, and thought I better go while I could!I was pleasantly surprised. Admission was free, the volunteers were friendly, and the exhibits were interesting, interactive, educational, and most of all, fun! I hope they can continue this tradition when they reopen at their new location. I will definitely look forward to checking out the new Spam Museum. Oh, and I left the gift shop with plenty of Spam!

Not too much to see on the drive across MN so took this opportunity for a short break. It is an interesting glimpse of the history of the company, and the changes in food buying behavior over the decades. *I hear that the Spam Museum will be closing down soon to be relocated. In their future location, I suggest a Giant Can of Spam (world's biggest can of Spam?) - for photo ops, and they should also have a childrens' playground with Spam designs integrated into the structures (I'd guess INSIDE would be better because of the severe weather) It's a cool museum but not much to engage small children / and I'm sure that families who are on long roadtrips would appreciate a spot for their kids to blow off some steam. *Gift shop was extensive --- but they didn't have what I was looking for... I wanted a small Spam Museum car sticker, but all they had were big full-size bumper stickers.

After visting this museum I can truly say I have a new appreciation for a product that is definitely intertwined with the history of our country. The musuem is most unique with exhibits that will entertain both young and old. The docents were friendly, lively, and informative. Dont miss this place!

Great museum and tells about the Hormel Co. and the growth of the company . This is Spamtown USA. The Hormel company is the largest employer in the town. The museum is also free of charge.

My husband saw the as while we were driving home from vacation. You can smell the ham as you exit the highway! There were museum helpers throughout to guide and answer questions. Great hands on museum, I learned a lot of interesting facts! Who knew!? Very well done! And what's for dinner? jalapeño spam!!!
