Tried to play a course at Madden's late afternoon, but they had closed the course. So I went here and was welcomed. Course was in very good shape, beautiful and challenging. Strongly recommended. A number of tee locations. Bring lots of balls if you don't hit straight as there is plenty of water. Not the cheapest courses in the state (or the area) but among the nicest in the state. Strongly recommended for quality of the course and attitude of the employees - they are GLAD you came (as compared to Madden's where it feels like they are doing you a favor to let you play).
We played all 3. The par 3 obviously was low man on the totem pole for getting mowed but it was free so couldn't complain. Both Bobby's and Dutch courses were well maintained and each hole unique. The pros were exceptional in explaining the courses and recommending the highlight holes.
Ask for Claire. She is awesome. We had a great time with wife and 3 kids. Food was awesome and she was charming.
Courses (Bobby's & Dutch's) are in perfect condition with fast, hard greens and just enough room in the fairways to let you get around without reloading at the turn.
I've been going to the Legacy Courses at Cragun's with a golf group of 16-24 for 10+ years and it's always one of the highlights of the year.Having 36 holes of championship 5 star golf is the main draw but the staff is just always so friendly and accommodating. Also serve great food in the clubhouse restaurant.Love seeing eagles flying over while golfing and the views of the lakes and northwoods are just spectacular. As good as golf gets in the north.
From the moment you pull up with your clubs, to when you put the bag back in your car and leave, you feel like a VIP here. Very friendly and well-trained staff. Well groomed lush greens and fairways. The Dutch Course is their most popular one, but both of them are gorgeous yet challenging. The marshal is always out and about (like a good one should) and he is nice to speak to and keeps things moving at a perfect pace. Real Minnesota hospitality!
I have played both 18's at the Legacy at Cragun's and they are both outstanding. Both 18's are challening and have great views. These are some of the nicest courses i've played in Minnesota. Legacy property is newer than the resort property as well. Very nice.
Four of us booked a 4 day/3 night golf package which included our room (double occupancy), 3 breakfasts, 3 dinners and unlimited golf on Dutch's and Bobby's golf courses. We played on Sunday afternoon of the first day and 36 holes each of the following 3 days. Golf courses were in excellent condition, other than some bunkers had quite a few rocks in them. Do not expect to see that in a course of this caliber. The staff at both the resort and clubhouse are top notch and really cater to their guests. Our rooms were clean, had a deck and a nice view of the lake. Beds were comfortable. Parking for the room was very convenient. The breakfasts were buffet style and were all you can eat. Food was very good. More than I can say for the dinners at the clubhouse. Those were adequate. Not horrible, just OK and over priced. Our package included ordering off the menu. I did not have the walleye, but the guys that had it said it was good. A couple had burgers the 2nd night and they all said they were not that good and would not order them again. I ordered the spaghetti the first night and it was too sweet for my taste, plus the meat balls were stringy and mushy. It was OK, but I would not order it again. The 2nd night I ordered the Black and Blue, which was a salad with blue cheese crumbles and Cajun tenderloin tips. That was much better than the spaghetti. Tips were good, other than the one I could not chew...too much gristle. The last night I opt'd for the cheese ravioli with Alfredo sauce. This was the best meal of the 3 for me. The staff at the clubhouse restaurant was excellent. Our dinners included a starter salad, out of the oven rolls and a small dessert. Both were good. When they bring the bill, all of the items are listed and the price to show the overall bill. The alcohol is presented on a separate tab. We tipped on the total bill including the FREE dinners. The total bill each night was about $130 before tip.I rated the stay as a 4 because of the rocks in some bunkers, plus the dinners being overpriced for the quality. Our group has made this same trip for several years and always enjoy our stay. There is definitely room for Craguns to do some improvement in their food. The breakfasts were fine, but the dinners lacking. I recall on our last trip having the the steak and it was not good either, so did not order that on this trip.On our 2nd day we had booked and 8:30AM tee time and when we got to the course, they informed us that our tee time was moved to 8:00AM because of a shotgun event starting at 12:15PM No one had notified any of us. It did not create a major problem for us, other than not having any time to hit a few balls on the range before the round. We finished in less than 4 hours, but were disappointed that none of us were informed about the tee time change. On the 3rd day, we had extra time between our rounds, so we decided to play a few holes on the reversible 9. None of us had ever played it and wanted to check it out. Greens were slow and the course was confusing. Good place for beginners and kids. Maybe if we had picked up a score card, it would have helped. Won't be playing that again though. We always make a fall trip golfing and Craguns will probably be off the list for a visit next year. We've been there several years in a row now and are ready for a change of venue. There are several other golf courses and resorts in the area to choose from.
Great food and great wait staff. We ate lunch and dinner here and both meals were excellent. The wait staff were very friendly and knew the menu well. All food was excellent and served at the appropriate temp.
Reversible par 3 was just right for our scramble tournament, suited all levels of ability and the course was lush!
We played at the Dutch Legacy course which has a nice variety of elevation changes and sand, marsh and water features. The course itself was in very good condition. It poured rain steadily, but the pro shop did what they could to make our round enjoyable. Will definitely be back under hopefully better weather conditions.
The Dutch Legacy is in wonderful condition for so early in the season. It is well worth the green's fee. A true pleasure to play.
Never fails to impress us, even with cooler weather. Staff at the golf eatery was great. A bit short staffed during the day to get a meal if not grabbing and going. Suspect it is not an issue before Labor day. The waitress made an error on our bill and went out of her way to tell us about it and treat us like royalty. Good service still goes a long way!!!!Keep it up!
Many menu choices, very good food, beautiful view, good service
well groomed but less challenging than Madden's Classic or Deacons; several memorable holes
