This was our first trip to check out the eagles. I didn't know what to expect but was so happy we went. We sat at a couple of the pullouts on hwy 61 and watched eagles for hours. We counted at least 50 or more. Most were at a distance on the ice shelf in the river but we did see some fly directly over our car. Huge wing span for sure. We saw one right in Lake City by the park bring a fish close to us and he sat in the tree and ate it. Great weekend and it was warm too so that made it even better.
The best shrimp and grits stew I've ever had! This is the perfect place to stop while taking the scenic route along the Mississippi on the Minnesota side. The beer selection is spot-on and the food... well the food... my 18 year old cannot stop talking about her beet salad! The atmosphere is cozy and it's a bonus to get a window seat up front with views of the Mississippi. If you like historical pubs, water views and delicious food, this is your place. Love this little gem!
Food was very good, but the Sweet Potato Tots were fantastic! Cool atmosphere, and great river view. We're going back.Al
It was a great place to walk along Lake Pepin and visit shops, loved the button museum. We also took a steam boat ride on Lake Pepin.
best viewing is from your car, usually plenty of eagles. There are no official places for observation, most if private property, no observation deck or tower. A few miles south is the National Eagle Center which does have observation decks and volunteer/staff and live eagles to see!
