My wife and I attended the Willie Nelson concert on August 8, 2014. The staff made a big deal about the camera my wife was using (Canon EOS Rebel T3i). First of all the sign outside the concert room said that no video or audio recordings were allowed. The sign said nothing about photography cameras. Our tickets that we printed off the internet didn't mention any policy regarding camera use. The casino's website had no policy listed about cameras. So basically there was no policy listed anywhere about the use of cameras inside the concert venue. If the casino really did have a policy about certain cameras being disallowed they obviously did a lousy job of making it known in advance. As my wife and I had our tickets scanned while we were entering the venue the person scanning the tickets clearly saw that we had a camera. That person said nothing about a camera policy. As my wife was snapping photos of the concert some lady that looked like she might have been a member of management raised a stink about the camera. She said that it was disallowed because it was a "big" camera. My wife asked how it was classified as a big camera. The casino employee (who was rude as hell) threatened to ask my wife to leave if she wouldn't comply with the camera policy. My wife did stop using the camera after she was told that it wasn't allowed. She simply asked why it was considered a big camera. The employee was obviously on a "say what I want to hear" power trip. The employee also tried saying that it was the artist's policy that the type of camera my wife had was not allowed. At the end of this review I will post a link to Willie Nelson's tour rider. There is no mention of a camera policy in that copy of the rider. Now I'm not saying that I'm 100% sure that Willie has no camera policy. I will say that it's debatable whether or not he has such a policy since it's not mentioned in his tour rider. After the concert my wife and I got the hell out of the casino. We didn't even stay to eat or gamble. Also we donated our printed tickets to another patron. I think the tickets had some kind of dining discount listed on them. My wife and I drove about 3 1/2 hours just to attend the concert. It was disappointing that my wife had to put up with such unreasonable crap. We will never go back to this casino.http://www.thesmokinggun.com/backstage/country/willie-nelson-0#lightbox-popup-1

This past week we dined at the Grand Casino Grill Restaurant twice! The prices were beyond amazing and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. The parking lot is huge, but they do have valet parking, so that's not even an issue. If you have trouble walking, you might want to bring a walker or wheelchair as the Grill is quite far from the entrances but the prices and food make it worthwhile!

TripAdvisor's additional info questions that follow a reviewer's comments include "Is there a fee for this attraction?" Pretty easy to answer unless I'm reviewing a casino - in which case having to answer just "yes" or "no" seems like bullying. Certainly you don't have to pay to enter a casino and enjoy the knotted-din of slot-music, which plays even if your win is for less than your wager; but to play, of course, there is a fee, on a sliding scale that cleverly slides the to-really-play-this-game fee from a penny slot into a fifty-cent-per-play game. And no, you don't have to play, and sure we know we're suckers, but over the past two decades especially, as casino traffic has thinned, it increasingly feels like the "you'll fall for this" factor/logic is getting more predatory. For example, look at the number of video poker games that are now wild card games, play-multiple-hands-on-same-draw games and other variants where payback and payout amounts have been adjusted (with appealing features) that benefit the house still more. So while the fee for this attraction isn't fixed or mandatory, it's there in the details that lower the fairness bar, and lower the regard casinos have for folks who support them. A bit more on this after the next paragraph that -At Last!- contains my more direct review . . .Though a cheap gambler who only wagers what won't make me wince, I enjoy visiting casinos a few times a year and especially enjoy the whistle&bell features of the sucker slots - the Dean Martin and Alice & Wonderland games (no doubt differently decorated clones of other games that don't draw me over) are great fun because of music, diversions, etc., no matter how bad the odds. If I can be entertained for five hours watching aliens beam up cows, seeing how designers work Clue or TV-show logistics into slot features and bonuses, playing a beautifully designed slot that spins planets on a zodiac-roulette wheel, etc., for fifty to a hundred bucks, I'm happy. On our recent weekend trip to Grand Casino Mille Lacs which I haven't visited since it opened long ago when everything was Vegas fresh and closer, we spent a total of about ten hours playing casino games; that the two-day gaming cost was just $40 total was a great entertainment value and made me feel I was lucky. Grand Casino Mille Lacs has a lot of fun games, very friendly staff, an inexpensive snack bar with unfortunately tasteless hamburgers, an excellent coffee shop for when the free brew won't do, no booze anywhere alas!, a smokey nonsmoking area. As casinos go, this one is a-okay. But as they say, if you don't like losing or can't afford to lose, don't play. There's no retirement or investment plan that includes casino gaming; the fee can indeed be great.Okay, back to my tangent about casinos and this one in particular - inside one of the doors is a new Bally's Betty Boop Fortune Teller slot machine, the kind of eyecandy character games I like to play. I put in a twenty dollar bill and the wagering amount/line buttons were "covered" with a wide screen asking if I wanted to cash out now, with Yes or No buttons; given that I'd just put in money and hadn't yet played (I wanted set my amount at fifty cents per game) I pushed the No button and immediately the game began and I was charged the max of $2.50 which was the wagering button under the No button I just pushed! What a crooked lowlife dishonest con! - I thought about griping but the odds (Ha! In a casino!) of staff believing me seemed bleak and I felt I'd just get exasperated telling the truth to slot workers who deal with disappointed players everyday. They can just point to the caution on nearly every machine about the player's responsibility! Ha! Yeah, this seems more of a Bally's "error" to me but it unfortunately happened at Grand Casino. Back when machines used coins, the other Grand Casino (in Hinckley) sold me $10 rolls of quarters that contained just $9.75 on three different occasions. How successful do you think I was in asking for honesty there?

Went here with a group of cousins for a reunion. Rooms are very nice and the grand northern grill has awesome staff. Extremely friendly. Prices are reasonable. In general this is our favorite casino because people are friendly.

the selection of food was okay. The prime rib was extremely tough and hard to eat. The rest of food was okay but luke warm at best, making it cold by the time you got to your table to eat it. Server was mediocre at best and less then friendly. The entire area was smoke filled and for a non smoker was a literally choked down meal. It is very difficult to maneuver a wheelchair through with very tight spaces. The casino was average but again not spectacular.

I ate at the Grand Northern Grill at the casino. During the month of July they serve a 16-ounce cut of prime rib with a baked potato, vegetable, and a dinner roll . This was the best prime rib I have ever had. Done to perfection! And since I had gotten a grand rewards card I only paid $7.77. Without the card it is $11.77, and I would gladly pay that price for it a well. Stayed in the hotel and have no complaints. The room is clean, window overlooking the lake, and also a microwave.

We stayed in the hotel one night and that was a great idea. We went to the casino at 9:15PM and didn't leave until 2AM we were having so much fun. They have $5 and $3 Blackjack tables we played at and the dealers were helpful, friendly and hilarious. The casino also had a non-smoking area. This casino is much smaller than Mystic Lake and I prefer that one but this Mille Lacs wasn't bad at all. We ate at Plums in the casino and the food was great.

Things to do for the kids and the adults and close to nature. Movie theatre close by the hotel. Northern Grill has excellent food. Close to Minneapolis. Community is quiet as a hole. Excellent security.

We have gone here several times and enjoy the food, atmosphere, drinks and entertainment. If you like casino's and a friendly atmosphere, this is the place to go. We have stayed over in the hotel as well and the room was great, clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced. We do not go to casinos too often but when we do travel to Mille Lacs Lake, we will make a stop here for some food and a nice place to stay.

We go up to the casino every few months. We pass Hinckley on our way Mille Lacs. Our favorite was the steakhouse. Best steaks around. When we went there this weekend we were told the steakhouse had closed. The buffet was disappointing. The slots were not paying out enough to keep us interested. But the room was clean and comfortable. We will save on gas now, we can eat at home, go play for a bit, and be back in our own bed. Will miss those steaks.

A very friendly reservation clerk assisted me in using a, many, years old certificate for a free night's stay, and even gave us a free upgrade to a king bed! But that wasn't the case when I spoke with someone else about using a food certificate. He obviously didn't feel his job should include any sense of customer service or diplomacy, though he did eventually arrange for an exchange. We were welcomed by a very nice registration lady & a bellboy who offered to fetch a luggage cart. Our room was clean and comfortable, our breakfast at the Grill was very good, and our waitress was a real sweetie! Unfortunately, I received a very disrespectful call from the guy who dealt with the food cert, a couple days later! I couldn't believe that one person could turn such a fun visit into an event that I felt I needed to complain about! And, I did.I placed a call to the VP of operations, who was genuinely shocked, and assured me that "We don't treat our guests that way". And he reinforced his statement with an offer to "make it right", if we would visit them again! He offered an upgraded room for a weeknight stay or a free regular room on a weekend, which was way more than expected. So, because of one person, I rated this stay very good, instead of excellent!

My girlfriends and I stayed at this hotel on January 12, 2014. We had to wait for one adjoining room to be cleaned. When we got into the room after 5PM we found a used empty water bottle in the corner of the room. The phone was out of order and the internet didn't work. There was a layer of dust on everything in both rooms. We went to the front desk to complain and the girl at the desk just said oh sorry about that. If we wanted the internet we had to go to the lobby. The elevator walls and floors were also very dirty. The food in the Grill was good and the gambling was fun, but I would not stay in the hotel again.

Enjoyed the casino and they seem to control the smokey atmosphere. Great location to add some adult fun while vacationing on Mille lacs.
