The actors/actresses were very enthusiastic and believalble. There is real talent in this community. The plays were familiar and indeed a pleasure to see.
Woodbury Community Theatre has been in existence since 1972. What was once a small theatre, now draws amazing actors from miles away, and produces very high quality theatre at affordable prices. There are two stages. An intimate black box opened a year ago and has already produced spectacular shows like Nunsense, Madeline's Christmas, and Putting it Together. Larger shows are done on the Loft Stage - Drowsy Chaperone, Wizard of Oz and Christmas Carol are three of many memorable shows on the stage in the last couple years. Both stages are located at Merrill Community Arts Center's East Ridge Location, which is located at East Ridge High School. If you are in the area during one of their 4-6 shows a year, make a point of checking them out. I've literally seen probably 50 shows here since 1992, and taken my kids to shows here from the time they were 4. It's my favorite way to see a wide variety of shows affordably. We get a lot of great theatre in the Twin Cities, but not at these kinds of prices. Was just buying tickets for an upcoming production of Bye Bye Birdie, and realized I'd not thought to review them before. Dating my review by their most recent performance of Drowsy Chaperone.
